I'm about to pull the trigger on a new Terrova. I currently have an 80lb minnkota power drive auto pilot on a 18.5' Fishhawk. Its about 10 years old and works fine in calm conditions but just does not have the reaction time in strong winds to keep on course.

To someone who mainly musky fishes, how valuable is the I-link? Worth the extra few hundred bucks? For those of you who have it, how often do you use it? Is it something I would regret later down the road if I didn't get it?

Basically I'd love to hear from anyone that has a Terrova with the I-link and what your thoughts are!

Thanks!

Best money I've spent on my boat in a long time. Ya do need the new HB electronics to take full advantage of it... but if ya already have em, you're golden. Don't think twice about it... You will not regret your decision.

i like mine over my dads ipilot, use follow the conture sometimes, love the fact that i can set it to AP but legacy form one time and its always there, i drift while using the AP so a straight path uses way too much motor i just drift sideways alot, also the line that your motor is pointed over lays on the map of sonar, lets me see my projected path and cast with greater accuracy to submergent weed lines in the midle of the lake.

The Link has more features than most people will use.

Getting the softwear loaded in each unit was a pain (locator, TM, & Remote). When I called Johnson Controls I had to wait for a person for 15 minutes then put on hold and the call dropped 3 times. I finally called Cabelas where I bought it and the problem got solved. There is a step missing in the instructions.

As mentioned you need the current units to get it to work. Also for the follow the contour to work the lake you are fishing first need the LakeMaster chip but the lake also needs to be mapped in HD, and most of the Lakes I fish are not mapped in HD even with a new chip. You can go through once and make a route and then follow it.

For muskie fishing the remote is kind of useless so I run all the functions through my locator up front. I mounted my unit on the bow on the longest ram made and mounted it as high as I could so the unit is right at my hand height. I bought a 959 for the front and if I did it again I would get the 1159. (Not much more money on E-bay)

The spot lock is nice if you want to hold on a spot and fan cast but I don't use that much.

I got my unit/setup rather late into the season so I have been fishing more than taking the time to learn how to use all the function. But after I master a few more things I can see how it will be nice, however it does take time and practice to learn.

If you have had a setup with a GPS up front before you may not notice that much difference until you really dig into what this can do.

Is it worth it?? I have fished a lot this year and haven't really used the features much if at all, would I buy one again, yes if I had the money.

I hope this helps and have a good day.

I fish alone a lot and all the features mentioned above makes my life much easier.
1. Locking onto a specific depth while fishing.
2. Spot lock
3. Locking it into 2-3 gps coordinates.
4. Using it to troll a specific speed while incorporating the kicker.

While guiding I have gotten accustomed to letting client fish up front while I control tm from rear or console.

I agree that most do not learn or utilize all functions like we all should.

Thanks for the replies, I appreciate it! I have a newer HB up front with the lakemaster chip so Ive been using GPS for the last 4 years. Im still a bit torn at the extra $400 and questioning how much I would actually use all the extra features and the contour function. Wish I had a chance to see it working and then decide. Thanks again!

I love it also worth all the $$
Spot lock or anchor is worth it alone
when you get a big fish in the bag gives you time to get everything in order
just move out to some open water and lock it
also follow the contour is great
