Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | Just curious as to what all of you would consider buying used versus only buying new?
Example: I will buy used reels (can be fixed) but not used rods (a few bad wacks on the side of the boat away from no warranty coverage). |

Location: Quebec, Canada | I buy both. If I can't find a nice deal, I will go new, but I will always try to see the different market places for used before. |

Location: oswego, il | I have bought both. I mainly buy used reels but rods are cheap enough. If its a lime new rod cheap, then I would buy it. There are great deals on used reels. |

Location: North St. Paul, MN | I got burned buying a used reel...never do that again. I'll just buy a new one of those from now on.
Rods and lures has been good to me on here, buying used.
I've never bought any electronics on here, but would be hesitant to do so. Trolling motors I've balked at too...thought about it, but never pulled the trigger. |

Location: Quebec, Canada | Reels; I bought some very nice reels for good prices used, as well as received one that was by far not as described.. got a refund. I'm waiting on an used as new reel to get home at this very moment.
Lures; I have had zero bad experiences with used lure, all very good experiences from that and I'm glad I've found this... saved a lot of $$.
Rods; I was looking for a LT Classic jerk and got a ridiculous steal for it, even shipped to Canada. It was in as new condition, saved more than $200 for a looking as new rod with a lifetime warranty.
Others; If shipping wouldn't be that expensive for tackle boxes and trolling motors, I would probably try it out as I really need these 2.
All in all, I probably have been able to get everything I wanted from used (but only buying as new with good prices), saved about 40% of retail price and only had a single bad experience that ended up well anyway. If I would be in the States, I'm guessing that this % would be a bit higher because of shipping. |

Location: minocqua, wi. | Used Boats - yup … have a sweet ride as a result
Used Reels - yup … anyone have an LJV for sale?!!!
Used Baits - probably, but have enough
Used Rods - no, same reason as Slamr posts
Used Net - yes, but i'm long on nets at the moment.
Used Trolling Motor - yes, have saved enormous money doing this
Used Truck - yes, have a sweet ride as a result
Used Electronics - no way … too finicky to screw around with
Used Fishing Partner … depends on why he's been rejected by the previous owner. if he can pack a cooler, take garbage out of the the boat and keep his crap organized and out of the way, yah i'd take a chance |

| Love this Buy/Sell Forum. I've purchased used reels, rods and lures. All without any issue. Even sold a trolling motor via this site.
I'm just careful on who I buy from. Really ignore the posts of people who use the Buy/Sell like ebay. I've stuck with buying from guys who are fishermen first and salespeople second. Works well for me.

Reels- I have never bought used but I would buy a TE400 if it looked like new with no rash.
Rods-definitely buy used, three of my four LT's were used and I got each of them for around half new pricing.
Lures- I would buy second hand as long as they were not marked up with hook rubs.
Boats- definitely used
Trucks- defintely used although the one sitting in my driveway now I bought new. |
