how do you steer a drifting boat when you do not have a trolling motor at your disposal? All I have is a drift sack, the outboards and rowing oars. Can I somehow change the direction in whch the boat drifts?

Your main engine lower unit will act as a rudder if you keep the boat sideways to the wind. Turn the prop into the wind to move the bow and the boat that direction, the other way to move the boat to the stern. The drift sock can be moved to the bow or stern to accelerate the movement.

You also can control the rig somewhat using a clamp on rudder one would buy for a large canoe. This works really well on narrow, longer rigs.

If your ankles do not come in any of a number of standard colors of Slammer crankbaits, and the water is warm enough, and there are no 40 lb. muskies in the vicinity, you could flutter kick..........maybe not!.....just a thought!

steve, should that rudder be clamped in the center of the boat or on the point?
