| Son and grandson fished up there June 28th thru July 11th with myself joining them July 6th to July 10th. I got sick, so lost a day fishing heading back to Des Moines in case I needed to see a doctor. Fishing was great their first week with the biggest a 48x20, but second week slower. No visible weeds because of the high water. Highest water level in the last 35 years. Overall netted 17, but grandson had bad luck on some big fish with a 50 plus snapping his line close to the boat and net. Line snapped close to leader where it gets damaged by rocks. He knows to check his line for this kind of wear, but screwed up. It happens. He also lost some nice fish on not getting good hook sets. This was probably my last trip. Living on social security kind of screws up my mojo. Son and grandson will carry on the tradition for many more years. I first fished Sabaskong in 1963, and I love the area. Starting with my dad, then me, 2 son's, and grandson all caught their first Muskies at Sabaskong. Lot of great memories. | |
