Wondering if the Shimano is much better suited for pounders if it would be an upgrade or not?
Thanks,
David

I don't have experience with the compre, but i have a 9'3'' xh okuma and it is a little on the soft side for pounders IMO

Lenny, I agree. I felt the xh was like a Heavy. JMO

At first I found the okuma to be awkward because of the extra length. After sticking with it I've grown very used to it. It's a great rod for the money and all I do is throw pounders with it. I've found it definitely has enough backbone to toss the big stuff.

Ive been useing the compre for couple weeks now n love it. Best pounder rod ive use yet. Sold my big dawg beecause it was to light for pounders. Had a tooth tamer 9'xxxh and thought it was to wipey n heavy to fish all day. The compre is light fast n easy to use all day. Best pounder rod ive used yet.. and for under $200 what else can you ask for.

Similar price range. Just get a Tackle Industries 9 XXH and you will be really happy. Life time warranty too.

They weren't asking for a TI comparison. There's plenty of TI threads you can put your 2 cents into.

Tackle Industries has most rods now in Canada with 5/0 Sports and ready to go!! If Brad does not have what you need you can email him and he can get it for you with his next shipment. Great site and good prices. We also have all of our most popular musky and pike lures with 5/0 now including SuperDs, Super Ciscos, Nokken and more.

It seems shimano has finally made a rod that matches the quality and performance of their reels. I have only touched based with a couple of people so far, but their opinions have been good. Going to have to pick up the 9xxh and 9'6" xh and give them a shot.
