I just upgraded my 55# terrova to a 80# terrova to better match my current rig. I have Ipilot for the 55# that I purchased as an add on (it didn't come from minnkota with it installed). So I removed the unit and put it on my new 80#.

I went fishing with the new motor for the first time today only to find the remote not connecting to the unit, the remote turns on with all the icons lit for 3 seconds then shuts off. I changed the battery in hope to fix it. Nope didn't work.

When I made I home I pulled the I pilot unit from the 80 and plugged it back in to the 55 and powered up that motor. The Ipilot worked perfect, it turned on found signal...worked as it should.

After seeing it still worked with my 55 I unplugged it from the 55 and again put it on the brand new 80, remote lights up, but doesn't stay on (same issue as I had earlier when fishing).

Looking at minnkota ipilot specs I didn't see that it was model specific, what am I missing.

I will be putting a call into minn kota tomorrow regardless with another issue, but figured it was worth a shot if I overlooked something.

You probably still have to link the remote to the new Terrova.

Called up minn kota, I got it fixed. They walked me through it over the phone, more or less I took off the panels of the base to get to the main circuit board. The board has two pig tails, one if for ipilot the other is for copilot. (I pilot mounts on top of the motor shaft, copilot mounts on the side of the motor base, reason for two inputs on the main board)He had me switch the wire from the unused "copiliot" pig tail to the pigtail that hooks up the ipilot (same connector, unplug and replug). Once I did that I powered the motor up and everything worked.

The customer service was excellent, he took the time to be on the phone with me to walk me through all the tests, I am a happy camper.
