| I know there are some amazing sticks on this forum, and I was just looking for some ideas for which lakes to hop onto up in vilas (or even oneida) county for the best shot at a BIG fish. I've fished the Eagle river chain and love how great it is for seeing a bunch of smaller fish, but I want a shot at a tanker up there. Any lake recommendations? I'd really appreciate any advice! |

| trout, lvd, north and south twin. at least north twin used to be. not sure anymore. 10 years ago i used to see some nice fish in there. i have not seen to many the last couple of years. maybe its just me. what do you consider a big musky? over 50, mid 40s? |

| Thanks for the input so far guys. Ya know, I'd love to tangle with a 50 and thats definitely the goal with the post, but honestly, I'd love to find a lake that has a better shot at a 45+ than some of the smaller action lakes in the area. |

a few sites to put on your bookmarks. you can spend a lot of time researching and pre-fishing on your computer with these. key in on lakes with cisco forage. i had a link to a complete vilas county creel data sheet but for some reason it won't launch. you can take a look at lakes based on forage and then go check em out on the Navionics before heading out. i love trying to find place to get off the beaten path using it. last year i put 3 go-to lakes that i never knew were there for smallies. nice especially when it's crowded up here.
hint: there are some sneaky cisco lakes you'd never had thought would have em … hidden right in plane sight.
lots and lots of choices for places to go fish, but before venturing out remember there are no big fish in Wisconsin. |

| kentuck lake has some very large fish and some real nice size tigers
and the lake is only about a 1100 acres. if you go watch out for the boulders on the south shore you will see one sticking out of the water and off the point. they usual mark that one with a jug. great smallmouth lake also. If you check out the national musky tournament you will see kentuck list a bunch of times. Family use to have a cottage on the lake. I really miss that cottage, great times
good luck

Location: South Central Wisconsin | Sled gave a great hint. Look for cisco based lakes and you'll have a good place to start. Then, hit the open water... |
