I am sending my rod back to St. Croix for a warranty repair. Anyone know of any inexpensive packaging to ship a Sling Blade??? Let me know if you can help..

Go to a carpet store and ask if they could part with one of the rolls the carpet comes on. Cut it to size, a little packing material on the tip, duct tape both ends and it's ready to go. Very durable.

Also, make sure your total length of the shipping tube is less than 108" or you will get dinged for around $80-$90 for shipping. If your in the MidWest call SpeeDees and get them to come pick it up. About 30% less than FedEx.

Just be careful not to use a Spiral Cardboard tube. Use a solid tube. One good hit on the spiral cardboard tubes and it will break just like you scribed a piece of glass and then tapped it [ not quite that easy but you get the picture.] I would use the $15 label that St Croix allows you to purchase online to return the rods to them. I always use a white PVC tube... Mike

Def get a solid tube. The spiral will crack easily.
