Does anyone use these Evertroll batteries or something similar??  These batteries claim to put lead deep cycle batteries to shame.

And how do you decipher all this battery talk....like reserve hours, amp hours, and all the other terms used to describe a batteries capabilities??  Is there a website that explains all this crap??

I think it depends on how much time you spend on the water. It's hard to justify spending $200 on an Absorbed Glass Mat battery (or $400 for 24volt system) if you only fish a handful of days each year. They are supposed to last a lot longer than regular deep cycles but they are also more sensitive to overcharging. I think I am going to go with 2 good deep cycle batteries and an onboard charger with auto-shutoff on my new rig.

This ain't answering your question, but you might want to check on Trojan Batteries if you haven't already. Now these are not a new breed. I posted a question on what is a top shelf batterry & Captn. Larry recommended them highly. I got 2 & have yet to really test them. I know they are fresh from the factory as the place in Bluefield WV ordered them then a week later met me in Charleston to deliever them to me. If you check some of the big bass message boards & read about the boats being given to winner's of bass tournaments Trojan batterries are usually the first mentioned. They make a lot of big industrial batterries & got an interesting web site. I am not at all informed or capable of being informed on the technicallities of much on all of this. I do have an excellent IN-Fisherman article explainning a good deal in simple terms on these new batterries you ask of . If you want I will send it via email to you. My Trojan's were reasonably priced basically $100.00 per battery. Sorry for going on & not answering the question.

AH is the amount of amps a battery can put out steadily for 1 hour.
so if it is rated at 100AH it could run 10Amps for 10hours or 1 amp for 100 hours or 50amps for 2 hours, etc.

Steve,

Here's the link to one of the best battery sites I've found for answering questions about charging or terminology.
