I recently purchased a Skeeter MX1825 with the F-150 Yamaha four stroke on the back. The boat comes with a 19 pitch 13 1/14" stainless prop. As I understand it Yamaha/Skeeter designed this boat around this motor. With that being said I am able to pull 49 mph loaded with two guys, but the holes hot really seems to be lacking. It's not the worst I have ever experienced but I was hoping for a lot better. I'm told if I down pitch to a 17 that I will drastically lose on the top. Looking to see your thoughts on how much I might lose or if I just live with it. Thanks in advance.

What are your WOT RPM's at 49 MPH. That will tell you if you can go to a 17 or not.

NA 4 strokes are not known for their low end torque, so what may seem sluggish compared to a 2 stroke, could be normal for this Boat/motor combination.

Shep I knew after I posted this I would get the rpm question. Unfortunately I don't remember off hand. I will double check it this weekend though. I also had the thought you mentioned about the 4-stroke differing from that of a 2. This is my first 4, so that may just be the case. Thanks for the response. I will let you know what I come up with. Does anyone know what this motor is supposed to run for rpm or where I might find that information?

have the same set up.i have never raced any one so I have never punched it right from the start. I run it around 30 mph with my mom in the boat. If I'm by myself I run around 40 . My top speed is 50.8 GPS if I remember right it runs 6000 rpm's

I have a stratos 385 xf with the Yamaha Four stroke 150. Not exact but a similar set up. The boat came with a 21 pitch aluminum three blade prop and the hole shot was horrible. Top end speed was 49.5 to 50 with RPMs topping out at 5400 or so. I put an 18 pitch 4 blade stainless power tech prop on it. The hole shot is now great, no problem pulling a skier or tube. Top end speed is 47 mph with RPMs right at 5900 - 6000.

Well after the weekend on the water I've come to the conclusion that all is good! I ran all weekend and never had an issue with the hole shot. Not sure if originally the motor needed more breaking in or if the extra weight from my dad and the guy I fished with over the weekend made that much of a difference. Either way I have no complaints. Never did get an rpm because I was having too much fun racing from spit to spot.
