I am looking into getting a guide trip and wanna take my wife as the second person on the trip, it would be so awesome to see her catch one but the killer is she is 18 weeks pregnant. Would it be safe to take her or would the stress of fighting a musky be too much for her? Just looking for opinions or experience with the same thing!

I think only your wife can make the call on the stress part. But I can't see a pregnant woman doing any activity that would put a unborn child in danger. So coming from a guy I would think the fight of a musky would be well below the stress level that could be dangerous. Because musky are not black marlin or on the level bailing hay or carriering shingles up a ladder.

If she wants to go let her come. I am assuming you won't have her bomb cast pounders all day either. Common sense she may enjoy the boat ride and just grab the rod when a fish hits.

I would wait to take her when her water breaks or she has dilated at least to a 5. Guide delivers the chlld and he holds it for a pick and bump board measurement, which you post here!

My wife went with me on a guided trip at 7 months. She caught a 24" pike and took a couple breaks but the guide said she did better than some of the guys who have gone out with him. Sounds like this is the first pregnancy lol.

If you start training early (17 weeks old) your future son could be the next Dick Pearson...

There are women who are 5 months pregnant playing volleyball so I am assuming that fishing would be possible - but then again everyone is different - some women are bedridden for 4 months.
Good Luck!

My wife went on a fishing trip to Canada three weeks prior to our second child....rode the boat and fished the whole time. She was pretty big but had a good time and safely delivered after we got back home. We did ask the Doc though.

Too funny on here- bump board comment was good. Sounds like first pregnancy. My wife and I asked questions of the doctor like: can she downhill ski, can she snowmobile, can she keep running like she has been. No skiing, but we snomoed at 3 months, she ran all three pregnancies the day of births yet. Should be good to go.

The most valid answer you can get is from your wife... she would know best.

The ladies are a lot tougher than we give them credit for, many continue running, swimming, biking and such a lot later in their pregnancies. One of the members of our local mt. bike club just quit riding at 7-1/2 months, but still gets in a long walk daily..

My wife was fishing with all 3 of our children. One was in October on LOTW 3 weeks before giving birth. We did ask the doctor about it and she said, basically need to be smart about it but don't make a difference where you are sitting.

She has outfished me both size and quantity every trip when she was pregnant.

Does it count if your wife got pregnant while fishing? So what if the fish weren't biting and there was this quiet little out of the way cove with no cabins or boats.. Could happen.

My wife was 7 months ( with our first ) and stuck a 53 on the bay. My daughter who is going on 5 loves to fish as much as I and last year had the largest fish from the fox chain in a muskie club of grown men 47 inches Herb that's a good one

7 months pregnant my wife just brought in a near 25lb channel cat on a 6'6" M rod with 10lb test on it. Fish fought like a champ and was near the Ontario record. She even held it for a picture after. So, I wouldn't worry about it.

wow a baby that big, one of the parents would have to lick its nose clean(or use a Kleenex) and have to learn to immediately walk!

My wife is 18 weeks pregnant and got her first yesterday. We talked to the Dr about boats, fishing etc. Make sure you talk to your Dr because every person is different.

Hopefully we aren't talking about the same woman
