I was able to finally put enough away to get a Tranx. So it is now being shipped to me and I need to get a rod for it. Any Rods you guys could recommend? I am not a big guy so I am looking for something I could use a few hours a day and not have to go to the doctor the next day. It will be used almost exclusively for double 8 and double 10 blades. I have always had great luck with the St Croix Premier series rods. Would a 8' Heavy or Xheavy work . I am trying to keep the overall weight of this combo as light as possible. Not a fan of the telescopic rods. thnx. JB

I am thinking the 8' heavy St Croix rod may be a little too soft tipped. I had purchased a new model premier and It felt like the newer model was not as rigid (stiff) as the original shafts, although they are a real nice rod. Maybe a 8'xhvy may work for you. take the reel to a few stores and try to see what feels good to you.

I got a 8ft XH premier and its a go to rod for anything. I really dont see why anyone would need anything else. I want cooler rods but I have no problem with mine what so ever. I also have a 7'6" premier MH fast, a triumph with the same specs and a 8' MI bulldog xh rod. I havent tried every rod but the 8' ft premier pretty much does everything.

I have my tranx on TI 9ft XH and love it for 10s have not thrown 8s with it because I use a TI 9 ft MH I throw them with but I am sure the XH would do fine with them. The XH throws 10s a mile and the tranx brings them in like nothing, plus you can't beat the price of the TI rods. Good luck in whatever you choose.

Looks like the 8'Premier XH is the same weight as the Slingblade.... that could be a rod to look at also. I think it is really important to check the weight of the rod before you Buy it.... I bought a Rod a month or two ago and was disappointed when it arrived because of the weight of the rod. When I called the Maker I was told they did not have a chance to change the specs online yet...... REALLY , REALLY The rod was too heavy and useless to me.. So be sure it does not weigh more than you are comfortable fishing with.

The St Croix 8'H tip action is too soft for 10's IMO, 8's are beautiful. I would go to an 8' XH or a longer H or XH rod in a different action.

Just a little too much flex when coming in hot.

Used SC rods for years and they are great but I would recommend a Tackle Industries XH 9' rod. They load up perfectly and no wear and tear on the body. Great rods.

I have mine on a TI 9' XH split grip. Great rod. I'd love to move it over to a slingblade, but I'm probably going to wait until the next series comes out. This TI is fantastic so I'm in no rush.

Do yourself a favor and have a rod built to match that sweet reel. I have a 9'3'' hvy predator, with an inch trimmed off the tip. I have a 19 inch handle on it, and it casts like a dream. I can throw anything from a tiny buck tail, up to dbl tens. The rod really works for you on the cast. I have 80lb 832 on the reel. If you can go to thorne bros, Lonnie will build you the perfect rod.
