Location: Minneapolis, MN | I've seen many people using white braided lines, what is the reason for the white color verses the normal green hues? I can only think of being able to see your line in the water better?

| some people think that if the musky is looking up ,,,,, the white line will blend into the brighter surface water light and be less visible to the musky ,,,,, thats what some people think ---- |

Location: Yahara River Chain | I use it so I can see the line end and I know my leader is there. Muskies dont care what color the line is, do you think they have figured out that the line is pulling the lure? If they can see the different colors in line and care, why arent they able to see the hooks and know its a lure? Or able to see 4ft of rod going back and forth in the water on a figure 8?
You guys are over thinking this stuff, but go on, carry on.............
That said its more important to have a line that performs well, fewer backlashes, cast smoother. etc so you can keep fishing. |

| I use blue power pro just because I like blue, I am thinking of getting another setup identical to the one I have now but with a lower gear ratio- I plan on using the yellow line so it's easier to tell the difference.....and I like yellow too.
One guy I know likes the white line because it doesn't fade or bleed color. |

Location: Smith Creek | I mainly cast leadcore so I can change my colors depending on conditions. Some lakes they won't bite if you use the wrong color in front of your leader. Plus it keeps the bucktails down when I'm really burning them.
And I always use green backing. Huge difference. |

Location: Detroit River | I watched a video clip the other day of a segment that Hook N Look did about how line shows up under water. The way the light relected off of braid was interesting. When the light wasn't relecting off the line it was harder to see but when light did reflect off the line it was a huge difference. I'm no expert on which colors reflect more line than other but I would think white or yellow line would reflect more light than green or brown line. |

I would guess that too. But were you looking at it from the side or behind as a muskie would during a follow? It may grab the attention of a muskie seeing it from the side, but be gone when they follow.
My next question, do you think when a muskie sees it, knows what it is? |

It's just an added bonus that it is less visible to any fish looking at it from below (not that it matters at all). |

White reflects all colors of light while other colors only reflects certain colors of light & absorb others. It depends on the color. At different times of the day the sun light is at a different color so that affects what colors will get reflected and which ones are absorbed. |
