Just wondering what one type of boat most of you fish out of (majority of time) while fishing for muskie?   If you use something else add it to the list.  Mine is a jon boat I modified. Nothing fancy, but it gets me where I want to go, and once in a while that is where the fish are too.

I am lucky to fish out of my Tuffy Esox Magnum, with a console, powered by a 115 hp Yamaha, and a Minnkota 50 PD, with a Bottom Line Sonar unit- Tournament TX. The boat has a 60" livewell, 32" baitwell, and so much storage space that I found two of the neighbors living in the far end of boat!
This boat and motor has been up over 85 mph!!!................of course that was on the trailor, behind the truck, going to Canada!

I fish from the "Sled", a 14' Carolina Skiff; big front casting deck and have horizontal rod racks on the sides, side rails w/ downeast rod holders, 2 rod holders on the back and 1 on the front...can fish 2 real easy and 3 if trolling, powered by a new 9.9 Merc 4 stroke; sold the bigger motor because of h.p. restrictions...

Ranger 620 with a Merc 225 Opti & 9.9 4-stroke kicker. Has perfect depth which is not too deep or shallow, can handle any water, has a 50" livewell and more than enough deck space. It also gets you from point A to B very fast. Don't consider mine a walleye boat though...should probably make a category for Multi-Species Fiberglass for boats like mine and Triton 205's, Javelin 21MSX and other Multi's.

Crestliner 1850 Fishhawk "Musky Edition" with a 150hp Evinrude, Genesis 74AP, Garmin 240 in the bow, Garmin 188 GPS/sounder at the console. It has a 55" livewell in the bow and a rod locker that will accomodate 8' rods.

I have a 30+ year old, 14' Alum "Blue Finn" with a used 15hp merc and a simple transom trolling motor. It was already rebuilt when I bought it and I've replaced just about everything again since then. When I was at Cass last summer, I noticed that most of the Members' boats had kicker motors that are more valuable than my whole package - boat, motor and trailer.

But, dang, I really like my little piece of sh!t boat. And I fish some waters that big boats just can't get into at all.

So, small crappy boat owners, stand tall and be proud!! (And remember, we don't have boat payments!)

I selected Multi-Species Aluminum. I have a 2002 Lund 1700 Esox Angler SS, 135 Merc Opti, 9.9 4S kicker, Min Kota 64AP, Eagle Custom Bunk Trailer, Lowrance X-15 and X-51, Oceanus VHF with a great Shakespeare antenna. I've added a rear deck extension, thus the "Esox" before the Angler

What determines what kind of boat it is in regards to fish? I have a 18' xpress VJB (semi-V, aluminum) w/ a 96" beam & 90 HP Yamaha, side console. I bought it for duck hunting (has a Avery blind) but when duck hunting season is over I take the blind off and use it for muskie fishing, crapper fishing (w/ the wife) tubeing (w/ the wife & kids) and partying with the guys. So I guess I have an aluminum muskie, crapper, tubeing, ducking, partying boat!

RIGHT ON RANGER!!! May the common folk rise at this time and rejoice! And now for a song fest...

at least we're payment free,

you'll be calling me"...(Lee Greenwood)

this boat is your boat,

to make this boat float"...(the Kuum BaYa Choir)

I have an '85 ranger 375 w/150 evinrude. It's my first boat. It is in really good condition. I like it better than most of the others I have fished from. Which were mostly deep V with decks. The only thing that I wish it had was a little bigger front deck. It has good storage for both rods and equip. Also, I can get from A to B in a hurry.

Smoker Craft 161 Pro Mag w/ a 88 Special (90hp) Evinrude; hope to make that a new 90hp Suzuki 4 stroke in the next week. From this you can deduce that I put it down as an aluminum multi species rig. Gotta love dem Smokers!!

'83 Tuffy Rampage 160XT with a '95 40hp evinrude and a 36lbs minn kota bow mount, look for it on the water in Indiana...it should be the only one. More of a Musky boat then Walleye boat I think. 1st boat I used for Musky was a '78 14' Blue Finn row boat with a 6hp johnson.

boy i envy the boys with the big rangers, i have a 16.5 ft. lund predator 2 with 60 Johnson, very deep and wide boat, gets ya from point A to B in a fairly quick manner, i know it handles those 3 and 4 ft. lake of the woods waves, just not like a ranger would though.

GREAT TOPIC!! I fish from a '97 Stratos 219F (single console "Walleye" boat) 175 Evinrude Intruder and a 15 Johnson kicker. Boat is just over 19' and handles like a dream. I am not overly interested in speed and the boat tops out in the low 60's. It is ideally suited for muskie for one major fact - it has a 55" livewell and is deep enough to handle 3-4' chop. So far (touch wood!!) it has been a great ride.
I fish a lot of pike and muskie tourny's and see too many "bass" boats with fish jammed in a small livewell.

My boat is a Crestliner 1750 Fishhawk w/ 90 Honda, 74# maxxum, Lowrance electronics. This is a excellent musky boat that I can also use with the family for tubing and boating. I am moving soon to a area that has a bunch of 9.9 musky lakes so it looks like I'll need a Honda kicker. Good luck to everyone this year!
