| I noticed the outside edge of my trailer tires are bald. Anyone have any problems like this? Tire pressure is normal but wondering if I have some issue with axle being out of alignment. It is a 2003 ranger trailer.

Location: Minnesota | I had the same thing happen on my skeeter trailer. They replaced the spindle on the side that was bad under warranty don't know if it is fiXed they just did it this spring but looks good so far. Is it on one side or both. |

Location: Tomahawk,Wis | Had a similar problem some years back. Found out the axle was not the right one for the weight of the boat.
Had a new axle put in and the problem was gone. |

Location: Bloomington, IL | I had this problem on the last boat I had. The bushings and springs were worn out, thus sloppy and that was the main issue causing the problem. I got that fixed, but also took it to a welding shop to check the alignment. It was a little out of line and they fixed that, but definitely check the bushings and springs. |

| Is this a leaf spring trailer? Or Torsion Axle? Tandem axles?
Both sides showing severe wear on the outside?
Usually, the axle bends over time, and the wear is on the inside.
Outer tire wear could be a couple issues. Severe toe-in on that side. Bent Axle. Worn suspension components.
You can check some of this out your self. Jack it up, and remove the tires, and check all the spring hangers and bushings for slop and looseness. Put a level vertically on the tire to see if it is cambered out, or Positive Camber.
I'd get it to a frame and axle shop. |

| Shep it is a single axle trailers with leaf springs. There is tire ware on both sides. I will have to pull the tires and conduct a more through inspection. Thanks for you input everyone! |

In your pictures it looks like there is inside wear as well...That would be an indicator of low tire pressure...
In most cases outer tire wear will be a bent axle of some sort where the spindle or axle is bent downward. The reality is it does not take much of a bend to cause the uneven tire wear.
If the axle is somehow toed in or toed out, you most likely would get uneven wear going across the tread at an angle and quite possibly cupping of the tread lugs (worn more on one edge of a lug as compared to the other edge, and it repeats on each lug.
Shep has touched on the other things that can cause some really weird issues as well, and any combination of things can really become issues. Had a fishing partner a couple of years ago get a new rig to him and he went through 2 sets of tires in 2 years due to an axle that was toed out...ended up wearing out one tire so badly it was out of round because it would bounce and scrape across the tread to stay in line with the truck...didn't help he traveled at speeds in excess of the tire's rated speed...

| I had the same problem with my trailer. It was a bent axle and axle was toed in. Don't know your location but I had it serviced at Precision Frame and Alignment in Elk River Mn for under $200. |

| The first thing I checked was the tire pressure but that was fine. I think I'm just going to have to do a lot of trouble shooting and locate a frame and alignment place. If anyone knows of someone in the Boulder Junction area please let me know. Thanks again for all of your input. Greatly appreciate it!!! |
