The lake you choose to fish goes through a cycle during the year where it peaks and then action drops then peaks again. Do you continue to fish that lake during the slower time to better learn the movements of fish in your system or do you jump ship to another lake that may be peaking hoping to arrive at a good time?

Here are the constraints. You have limited time to fish through out the year, maybe once a month.

Chasing after the hot bite seems risky but having said that moving around and learning new lakes gives me a change of scenery and forces me to adjust my styles to new conditions.

given your once a month to fish go to the lake where you herd they were biting, and not the one you herd they were biting for the last month go to the one you herd about yesterday from one person, try to beat the rush and rumors of a good bite last longer than the bite

Yes, by all means follow the herd! That's really an excellent strategy for meeting up with the "herd". Sorry your spell check isn't working.

Don't follow the herd, the really good muskie fisherman rarely follow the herd and its darn hard to pry lake information from them. Much like asking someone where their hot morel mushroom spots are..... good luck with that one too.

Find a lake you like to fish that fit's your personal criteria for muskie fishing, then learn it indepth. Seasonal movements can be predictable, but weather isn't, you need to know that lake's shoreline & bottom structure like you know your back yard or your hunting area.

Have fun!
