The Governor signed the bill today. If not for your support it would have never happened. In the end all but 1-2 legislators supported us. The support of Rep David Dill, Sen Tom Bakk, Sen Carrie Rudd Sen Matt Schmidt and most importantly Sen John Hoffman made this happen with your calls and emails. This is incredible. Please Call or E-mail and thank these key people for making this happen. It was dead without them. Senator Thomas M. we now have a lower size limit for muskies. |

I appreciate the thanks guys but it was a team effort, our lobbyist Brent Urdahl is one of the best. When it seemed like it was over he found a way to make it happen, without him we would be living with a nightmare the DNR was creating with the best intentions. I felt like a fly riding on the back of a draft horse when we were working. The MMPA is a very diverse group with differing opinions and weighing out all concerns and going with whats best for the fish is remarkable. The guides Like Josh Borovsky and Dave Williamson that gave us valuable information and support. The lure manufactures who provided us with information and connections like Brad and Carrie Hoppie of Muskie Mayhem. The supporters at the Muskie Expo and Paul Hartman. Erik Jacobson and his kids that came and testified about their love of Muskies to a senate committee, those of you that have never done it; trust me its intimidating and these four were incredible. If I had to look up to anyone it would be those kids, and Erik. Then to sew the whole thing together was the resort community, when you go to a resort this summer or fall thank them. These people were incredibly important. Here are the ones that actively supported your Muskie fishery. This was truly a miracle considering the comments of one Muskie hater on another sites victory in our defeat a couple weeks ago from a house vote. " 55" minimum for muskies goes down hard in the House. As in, Maverick and Goose in a flat spin heading out to sea, hard." Support these resorts, great people and good friends to Muskies and the people that fish for them. Lake Vermilion Resorts supporting 55 inch minimum size increase on Muskies Ludlow’s Resort White Eagle Bay View Polly’s Resort Everett Bay Whispering Winds Pike Bay Pine Tree Vermilion Dam Retreat Lodge Glenmore Spring Bay Life of Riley Forest Lane Fortune Bay Resort -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ruttger’s Lake Bemidji Resort supporting 55 inch minimum size increase on Muskies (only non-corporate on the lake) Dreamers Resort and Campground Big Lake Resort supporting 55 inch minimum size increase on Muskies (only non-corporate on the lake) Balsam Beach Resort Lake Plantangenet Resort supporting 55 inch minimum size increase on Muskies (only non-corporate on the lake) Viking Bay Resort Lake Miltona Resort supporting 55 inch minimum size increase on Muskies |

| I have a confession to make----did not think this would ever pass---growing up in the Minocqua area------you can imagine the origin of my pessimism ...lol
But as a Lake Vermilion cabin owner---I am extremely great full to all who took the time and effort to get this to pass...
The glory days of world class trophy Musky fishing in MN are right before us---and will extend well into the future---
Thank you all who called, emailed, and had the vision to make this happen!! |

Location: Contrarian Island | this is simply an awesome accomplishment for all the guys that were on the "front lines" of getting this on the bill. Kudos to all your efforts..this is one of the best things to happen to musky fishing in decades... congrats! |

| Thank you all! Great News! Does this mean no more "Take a Congressman Fishing"? These guys have a open invite in my boat if it's still on! Maybe we could do it as a thank you. |

| I know you guys are very proud of this but can someone tell me what was the point? Who's keeping a musky that survived being caught? |

| VonBraun....the point actually is very simple. It is meant to prevent someone who is NOT plugged in to the C&R philosophy 100% from keeping a musky for any reason.
There are many muskies caught every year by "accident" by anglers who are fishing for another species. Many of these anglers would like to keep what may be the largest fish they have ever, or probably will ever, catch. They won't be able to do that now. At least not legally
Sadly, many of these fish will probably die after being endlessly photographed and handled before being released by anglers not prepared for such a catch.

The point? To sustain a trophy fishery!
How many are being kept? To be honest...a large number. Not by the musky fisherman but the average joe catching crappies or bass. I know of at least 3 fish that were kept over 48" on my home body of water last year. this body of water is relatively small under 2,000 acres.

| LOL!! Exactly the point I just made. The law is simply meant to be restrictive to those who don't practice 100% C&R.

Location: minocqua, wi. | i never liked the tie-in on the dark house piece, but aside that i applaud the effort and the outcome … Congratulations to all the organizers for accomplishing your goal. great news for Minnesota Musky Fishing for the long haul.
i'm finding some really surprising negative responses from bass anglers (the ones who proclaim to be tournament pro's) on FB … the very people you would think would be in tune with this sort of protection are on the opposite side of conservation. |

| Is it really all that surprising? Self-interest rules...bigger muskies mean less bass in their eyes. |

Couldn't agree more the crap fits between the two groups needs to stop and putting that in the article doesn't help |

This was truly a miracle considering the comments of one Muskie hater on another sites victory in our defeat a couple weeks ago from a house vote. " Oh, the venerable LMTOUT. No one ever says so much about nothing like that man.
Thanks for the hard work, its greatly appreciated.

| Musky hater may have been a bit of a stretch, but he is a perennial pot stirrer. Little jabs, here and there. The ONLY reason he posted what he did was to incite a reaction. That is his MO.
