Location: tamahawk,wi-elmwood pk,il | I am going to be fishing sabaskong bay area out of tamarack island lodge late July . What are some of the color-patterns some you guys prefer you had luck on? I do use buck-tails sometimes but prefer twitch baits and jerk baits. But love surface baits. Any input from you old pros would greatly appreciated ! THANKS Allen |

| If you don't have a lure with silver sides, a gold belly, chartreuse back, you just probably wont catch may as you could....or so someone will tell ya  Most of my best jerkbaits and topwater up there are "wood colored" from having the paint ate off of them. When in doubt throw black on Lotw

| Gold crankbaits (Big Game, Jake), red blades (DC-10, Double Cowgirl), and black topwaters (Weagle) have been very good to me on Lake of the Woods. The great and powerful 7" Suick in orange with black bars quickly became one of my favorites. Last but not least - the Pounder Bulldawg in any Walleye pattern. They love all colors... these are just a few of my favorites

Location: Des Moines IA | For bucktails and double bladed lures gold, copper or brass blades with walleye/sucker tinsil bodies have worked best for me.
I do like my topwater lures to be black.
My 3 largest skies came on clown colored crankbaits on overcast rainy days. Not sure how much color played in those fish but it is what it is...

Location: NE PA | Just go and throw your confidence baits you would use in appropriate conditions....they will produce. That body of water is a musky factory. And as far as surface baits go, I have never noticed a difference in any color.

Location: plant earth | nickel, brass, copper, orange w/ black hair for blades worked good for me. if ya got it chuck it. I think its about location. temps and weather will be your deciding factor. don't be afraid to go small if temps are cool. my favorite is twitching a orange x-rap. good luck. |

Yep, me too. Natural wood is an excellent color pattern on LOTW.
Seriously, we've had success with a variety of color patterns. Nickel/Black, Blk Nickel/Black, Chart/Black are 3 solid choices for bucktails. Firetiger, Oranges, Chart with some form of contrast will work for jerks, twitch baits, cranks. Black for topwater is always a good choice. |

Gold and Orange ,Black are my favorites also for stained water. You guys are right location and presentation is the key. Let you know after the trip ! | Black and nickel double 13, black top raider, fire tiger shallow invader and black pounder with orange tail have worked great for me during that time of year on lotw. I'll throw a believer and retrieve slowly or hellhound again worked slowly on those colder post frontal days when the regulars don't seem to be moving fish. |

Black N nickel blades have caught by far the most fish for me....but I also throw it the most by a mile. There's time it's absolutely on fire, there's other times it's not for reasons beyond my comprehension...sometimes 8's sometimes mag 8's, sometimes 10s, sometimes any of them can work...
The last few years we have had a lot of good luck on the lemonhead patterned crankbaits/jerks..
