Just to make you guys all aware of an important vote that is about to come up in Wisconsin. It will be on the general election ballots on April 1st. Now I know that there are usually only very dull uneventfull elections in an off year like this but....

The Constitutional Amendment guaranteeing us the right to hunt and fish in Wisconsin comes up. This is a very important issue for us. I was at my Muskies Inc meeting Monday and was informed that if this does not pass this time it can never ever be brought up as a Constitutional Amendment again. This was defeated once before and if defeated again it can't be brought for vote again. It is not like a local referendum where it can be brought up repeatedly.

I urge all of you to not only go vote yourselves but also tell anyone you know to go vote for this Amendment. Being that this will be a very low turnout election in most places, we may have some advantages on our side if we can rally support from the outdoors enthusiasts.

Please get out there and vote on this issue. Maybe the anti's will finally see that we are for real, and we vote.

Thanks guys,

Scott

I can tell you peeps in cheeseland---DO IT!!! We had the same thing come up in VA. about 3 yrs. ago and the amendment passed overwhelmingly; this is not something you want to let slip through your fingers; sure has made a difference in keeping the "pan bangers" out the forest/fields"! Keep this one at the top; see if steve will lock it in!

Scott, could you explain a bit more. What are the consiquences if this gets defeated? Thanks for keeping this at the top, and, can you put up a reminder post at the end of the month. Thanks

Jon
This vote is to ammend the Constitution of the State of Wisconsin. The ammendment failed once before and if it fails again it cannot be reintroduced as an ammendment to our constitution. They may eventually be able to get it enacted as a law but the constitutional ammendment would carry much more weight.

I will do some checking and see if I can get the exact wording for the ammendment.

We had the same thing to vote on here in our state, and peeps came out of the woodwork to pass the law. Reason being, each year you have more and more groups that would like to see hunting/fishing curtailed, or banned all together; PETA is based here and we have had the pan beaters enter the woods in the past to disrupt hunting etc. Now it is against the law to do these things. And don't think that it won't happen there...better safe than sorry! There are many peeps out there that are basically naive and sitting on the fence when it comes to the outdoors, and if these groups appeal to their emotional side, they can be swayed to have outdoor activities limited or banned in their favor. Once the law is in place, you have a legal right to hunt/fish w/out distraction. Bumper stickers were given out at all the outdoor related stores along w/ informational pamphlets. By all means take the time to vote, and don't assume that it will automatically pass; the polls were flooded the day ours came up, and now we have permanent rights!

***The peeps who are undecided most likely won't go out just to say no; the more that vote yes will decide the outcome...

Any amendment that helps to guarantee my right to hunt and fish is a good amendment, especailly if the new law provides for enforcing the penalties for harrassing a hunter or angler.
