I just cleaned my TE 400 and now the quickfire thumb button won't popup after depressing it and I start cranking the handle. I have checked and rechecked everything and all parts are present and in place correctly. I don't know, it worked before I dismantled it. Any ideas on what I may need to do would be greatly appreciated.

make sure the reel is engaged by reeling it till it starts moving the spool and the casting button is lifted in the up position. as if you going to push it and make a cast.

It won't engage right now because the clutch plate is above the rod that sticks out the side of the clutch bar (thumb bar). You need to dissassemble the reel (don't need to take apart the right side face plate) and hold the thumb bar up when you put the right side back on so the thumb bar (rod) is above the clutch plate.

Send it to Pikemaster and have him repair, pimp and polish. Then it will be the finest reel you own. Easiest fix there is. Also have him change drag washers.

x2 and have him replace the plastic spool bushing with a ball bearing and then sell it to me.

Pikemaster does my TEs and they are better than factory new when they come back to me. Just be aware that he's a busy man and your turnaround time may vary during the busy season.

Better yet: ask the question in the Pimp my Rod and Reel thread and he'll likely be able to tell you how to fix it, then send your reels in for a full service pimp and upgrade after the season.

Thanks everyone for your input. With this cleaning I did replace the drag washers with Carbontex drag washers and with Cal's drag washer grease.

I hadn't thought about posting my question in the Pimp my Rod and Reel thread. I will do this.

TE reels are reels that I would never open up if U have never had a reel apart before.
I love Tuning and Pimping TE reels.
I don't know what to do I'm so backup up, I can only do 5 reels a day the way I do them and I'm backed up till JUNE, then from JUNE to DEC turn around time is 2 weeks, but from JAN till JUNE it can be 3-6 months.
For next year I think I'm only going to do certain models of reels, not sure yet.

Thanks Pikemaster for the reply! I'll get this figured out. Then send it to you later after your busy season.

I would say that U installed the Anti Rev Ratchet part 26976 upside down and make sure part 2697 the drg pin holder is fully down on the drive shaft. GOOD LUCK.
