| I know this has been discussed some before, but I need a little clarification. I have heard talk of some of you wrapping and then fusing your leaders. I am not sure what this is. I have a knot book that shows a way of wrapping nylon covered wire and heating it so as to melt the nylon coating somewhat. Is this what we are talking about as fusing. I was always nervous to try this because it did not seem like the strength would be there. For those of you who have used this method, what are your experiences with the strength of this connection. I am looking for a new way to attach stranded wire. I dont like crimps, and I have not had much luck with any knots that I have tried. Any information is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Coated leader material lends itself very well to the lighter, and holds up really well once tied and melted together. A friend of mine uses that material exclusively, and has no trouble. I use the uncoated, and use the sleeves. I also have had no trouble at all. | |
