Location: Iowa | I have not decided if I will sell this or not, but am trying to find out for sure what it is. Any help would be appreciated. The front blade spins alone, the front 1/3 of body is attached to through wire, then the back prop and back 2/3 of body spin as one. Hope I can get this post now.

| Don't know what kind it is, but it almost looks like a Diwagiac(sp) bait, maybe from the 1920s/1930s. Check the library for Carl Lucky or White old bait identification books. That thing is probably worth some decent jack!
***Stone--make sure you find out what it is before you sell it if you decide to!

| Tech, did it give any price range etc? The bait appears to be factory made; from what I remember, there were a lot of small companies that only lasted a short while...maybe from one of these, possibly making it even more rare. Hopefully someone will be able to give a positive ID on this bait...stuff like this is neat, and from what I've seen from time to time on EBAY, one could become somewhat wealthy w/ such a treasure. Bet there's all kinds of stuff in garages, attics, basements etc. that are very collectable. There is a bait called the "Flying Hellgramite" that is rare that I remember from one of those collecting books; I used to have a bunch of those Heddon Pumpkinseed baits and other baits that are sought after by collectors and wish now I'd kept them. I still have a Heddon King Basser that has the pull away hooks. I may have to hit some yard sales this spring! |

Location: Iowa | Thanks Teck. I've been looking on-line a lot today and can't find it. Find a lot that are close, but not with the split body and 2 props. Gonna keep looking till I know for sure though. It has hung in my gun case for some time and it started me wondering finally and now I HAVE to know. Thanks again. |

Location: Iowa | Wood body is 3 3/8 inches long, but overall length from wire tip to tip is 4 1/2. Appreciate the effort. I sent the picture to a lure collector to see if he can help me out also. |

Location: ashtabula ohio | yep, i think tecks got it . charmer... checked the one book i have and it looks exactly as showed in your pic. out of missouri,1910-1915. valued at 200-300 clams, but this book is 12 years old and the values have changed on a lot of stuff. if teck goes ten bucks ill go 12.50...!lol...put that baby back in the case...i love that old stuff! |

| Good point Luckymusky...lock that baby up; if it was worth 300 clams 12 yrs. ago, it's probably worth 3,000.00, at least on ebay, since it seems peeps will pay practically anything these days. I would definitely get at least a couple of opinions as to the worth of the bait...time to keep a closer eye at yard sales etc! |

Location: Iowa | Managed to get a hold of a couple more collectors and the results are unanimous. It is a Charmer, made by Charmer Bait Co. around 1910-1915. Thanks again for all the help. |

| Just a few weeks ago a bait very similar to that went on Ebay for $31,000 with something like 21 bids. The guy started it at $9.00. Do your homework on this for sure!

Location: ashtabula ohio | WOW...you might wanna put that thing on ebay after all... then again the longer you hold it the more the value goes up. you might be able to do a search on ebay for charmer and come up with some photos or what others sold for...? i guess it depends if your wanting a new boat or new gear..lol |

| Gooder one LM!:O He should wait and perhaps sell during the early spring, when boats etc. are cheaper at the shows; we need to keep an eye on Stone...he may "freak" and sell the thing on a whim... |

Haven't looked anywhere to really see what it might be worth, but don't think it is in good enough shape to be too much. I think I'll just leave it where it is at and try to forget about it and concentrate on fishing as soon as the ice is out. Unless of course I get an offer I can't refuse, but how many of us are really that lucky? |

Location: ashtabula ohio | welp, if yer tryin to forget about it, sorry... my curiosity peaked and i went and did a search on ebay. found 4 different charmer minnows that were sold in the past and three of em went for 300-500 clams each.there was one auction that was cancelled since the bidding never made the "reserve price", the bidding stopped at 2200.00! as far as condition yours looked as good or better than the ones sold...its possible it is a rare color which would make its value go thru the roof, but probably not...?? anyhoo, just leave it in the case,except dont let it get sunlight,or humidity as fading and cracking will devalue it... |
