Not for myself...

I ask for prayers for a fallen friend of mine. He was an Adams County Deputy Sheriff who was shot and killed yesterday (03-07-03) while responding to a property dispute. He was in his late 20's, luckily was not married, and his brother is also a Deputy for the same department. I know that his family and friends would appreciate the support. I know this is vague but I will give more details when I know what information is able to be released.

They did take the suspect into custody without further loss of life.

Scott, You have my prayers, my friend.
I hope that the judicial system throws the entire book at the suspect for this horrendous crime. In Milwaukee, the media always makes a huge deal when a law enforcement officer shoots a suspect, no matter what the situation. The suspect was always "such a good boy".
Where is the same outrage and protest marches when an officer is killed?
Please excuse my frustration, I am blessed to have many, many law enforcement officers who are friends! They perform their job 24 hours a day, without near the respect or rewards which they deserve!.......except for THeedz.....just kidding, I start shaking if I stay serious that long in a row!

A few years ago, a St Joseph police officer will killed in the line of duty. At the funeral, it was awe-inspiring to see the police officers from all over the midwest to come and lay their comrade to rest.

I think when most of us think of small town (or rural sheriff's ) we think of Barney Fife and things like this bring home the fact that it is dangerous to be a cop every where, not just the big cities.

I'll light a candle in his memory when I go to church this weekend.

Scott- What a senseless loss of a brave man. My prayers for your friend and fellow officer. Please pass my condolences to his family and friends.

Many of us don't understand or forget what a selfless occupation being a police officer, fireman, or EMT is, i.e., each time you walk out the front door and report for duty, you are leaving your loved ones behind and placing yourself into harms way to protect others. God Bless all of the brave men and women who take that responsibility upon their shoulders each day.

Scott,

My prayers go out to you. Be encouraged during this time knowing that many people just like myself who've never even met you,  are holding you and your friends up during this difficult time.

sincerely,

This morning's paper had an article about the senseless killing. The suspect was upset about brush being trimmed in the road right-of-way in front of his house. What a reason to kill someone!!!!

My thoughts and prayers go out to this brave man's family. You officers put your lives on the line each day. All of us go to work in the morning expecting to come back home safely. Seem like there are more of these senseless killings each year, it is a shame for the good to die so young. thanks be to you all. m

Scott, I am sorry to hear about the loss too. I seen it on the front page of the paper on the way up to blaine. It takes alot of courage to be a police officer, you never know what you are going to get into. I am sure he will always be remembered as a hero.
