Are reef haws made with through wire construction? I'm thinking about getting one of those reef hawg kits and doing some experimenting. Thanks.

no they are not. They use the cotter system, and the kits come with them. When you are done painting and ready to put hooks in, take the cotters short side and cut it so it will make it about 3/4 through the bait, slightly bend it out so there is a little barb to stick in the wood. The longer side you will bend and pound down against the top of the bait, also putting a slight "barb" in it so it stays put. This system works excellent if done correctly. My friend Jeff said that putting two ton epoxyin the hole first works too, but you better have things right and ready first. The hooks supplied with the kits are excellent.
