| Just read an article in the paper, and the Associated Press has informed peeps that the "Today Sponge", a contraceptive, is being sold on Canadian web sites, and that these little "baby preventers" may hit the shelves at 4,000 pharmacies, Wally Marts and other stores w/in a year in the U.S.
Over the years, I was used by women in many ways; as a pin cushion, a blocking dummy, a dart board, a door mat and so on, but this is more than I can handle; they have taken the name of a cartoon character and managed to make a medical mockery of all that is good in the eyes of our youth! I must admit I was a form of birth control over the years; chicks wouldn't get close enough for a hug, much less close enough to worry about giving accidental birth, and I could live w/ that, but now I'm afraid that when the name "Sponge" is mentioned, peeps will associate the name w/ less than honorable intentions, and a staple household item will become the bu++ of office jokes...I already expect to be ridden like a circus pony once word gets out where I work.
I will consider over the weekend a possible change as I gather the family by my side for this heart rending decision...hopefully this will pass and life will once again shine its favor on all that is good...

Location: Presque Isle Wisconsin | Sponge- While its true that your name may become synonymous with a device to soak up seminal fluids you should think long and uhh well... hard... before changing a now famous(infamous?) monicker.Think of this development as a symbolic, if not totally flattering, return to the womb so to speak.Should people, or peeps,as you prefer to reference other humans, seek to denigrate you or your chosen screen name in any way we will of course take umbrage with those peeps and defend you with all of the, admitteldy limited, wit and acumen at our disposal.Besides there may be pheriferal monetary benefits to the association as you become the poster boy for absorption of uhhhhh ,, well you know ,,, that stuff!!

| Howie,
I don't believe long and hard is synonomous with Sponge.
That being said, Sponge, when you have your pow-wow with all the Spongettes tonight, remember how Bluto reacted when faced with the frat being ousted. He gave a rousing speech about the Germans bombing Pearl Harbor, downed a bottle of Jack, and carefully measured a windshield before smashing it with the hammer. Look how he ended up. A US Senator with the hottest babe at Favor! Don't "shrink" from this new application. Embrace it, stand tall, and above all, keep thinking of new products to market. A couple more, and Ron Popiel with be waving the white flag, thoroughly and roundly defeated in his quest to provide useless widgets to the American public.
Set it, and forget, oh Pourous One. You are Sponge. You will always be Sponge. Be proud of your heritage. Ignore the soon to be ever present snickering when your name is mentioned. Like water off a duck's back, you will soon, maybe in 2 or 3 years, be able to venture forth in public, with full family, and soak up all that is tossed your way.

Location: Gaithersburg, Maryland | Sponge: I read in a local magazine that the TV character is a hero to the gay community!!! Obviously, you are not gay. However, I just thought I would let you know just in case you hadn't heard that.
Of course, maybe MuskieKid is a hero to the gay or lesbian community. Who cares!! All I know is that the TV character is pretty neat.

| Figures doesn't it!!!! What a spot to be in...loved by both women and gay folk...talking about an ox & a moron...I have decided to remain who I am, and though I have no idea who I am, I shall remain whomever that may be.I will stand against corporate America, and those who lifestyle defy understanding; the "Today Sponge" and associates shall remain same in name, and our anthem will be "torn between 2 lovers, feeling like a fool"...can't remember who sang that silly song, but I am grateful it stuck in me head all those years! The name remains the same...nobodys fault but mine.... | |
