With all of the thick ice on the N. Wisconsin lakes and another large amount of snow will there be any lakes affected through winter kill?

I saw an article in the Startribune awhile back about a few in MN but havent heard of that in N. Wisco...

Just curious and concerned.

Heard the Chip is starting to have problems. Dead fish seen in normally productive ice fishing spots using cameras.

We have a different problem here on Lake Erie near Buffalo,NY,not dead fish, but dead ducks by the thousands that starved to death because of this winters colder then normal temps and completely frozen waters!

I was at a meeting on Tuesday night with fisheries biologists from Vilas, Oneida, and Forest counties and they DO have concerns about fish kills this year. Only time will tell for sure but some of those shallow lakes (particularly those without inlet/outlet currents and natural springs are very much on their radar.

That's sad to hear Larry. I like Ducks ! Won a Duck calling contest one year with a Sunbeam bread wrapper, waiving it in the air.
