You will probably get a whole lot of different answers to this question but my general rule of thumb with all baits is to try to match it to some kind of natural forage. My box is loaded with perch, walleye, shiner, and sucker colors.

That being said, my most productive color for these, and all baits is probably perch colors. If I had to pick a color other than the natural forage base, firetiger is hard to beat, and its not just for dark water anymore.

The firetiger suick has put some fish in my boat over the years and so has the bumble bee pattern. I caught a few fish last year on the orange/yellow bellied one too. As for jakes i have my best luck on baits i have repainted. But i have moved fish on the crappie and charchrese perch patterns also.
