I've got an old in dash depthfinder on the bow of my boat and don't ever use it. Is it ok to unplug the power from the back of it and just leave the plug sit loose? I unplugged it in case it draws some power even though it's off, and really don't feel like locating which wires to disconnect under my console for fear of screwing something else up. Is this ok to do even though there is still power to that plug? Thanks

It's OK no different from unplugging your tea kettle. You might want to put some dielectric grease in the terminals of the unit and the power cord to prevent corrosion for future use. Shouldn't be difficult to locate the fuse or breaker.

If the unit has an external GPS antenna you would want to disconnect the power some od them search signal even with unit off.
