| Well, after having to reschedule most of my trips so far due to horrible weather, the first muskie slime of the year has gotten in my boat!! I boated a fat 40 incher today out of Kinkaid at 11:45 am. She hit about six feet from the boat, and what an awesome feeling. The first one of the year almost feels like the first one ever!!!

| OH WOW Chad, that is really awesome, you stink, I can't believe you were on open water today!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is soooo much ice up here it is unbelievable. We will be lucky to have open water by May 1st. There is only one time of year I don't like living here and that is from now until open water.
Her seriously, congrats on a nice fish!!!!! Great way to start the season. God Bless.

| Chad, Great to here you had luck on Kincaid lake. I made my first trip down there last week end just to look things over. I did not do any fishing. This will be my first year that I have every tried Muskie Fishing. Kincaid will be my first lake and first try. Looking for some pointers on how to fish the lake and what kind of tackle I should use. I bought one of those hot spot maps but have no idea how to approach the lake. Would appreciate any suggestions you can offer a new guy. Looking forward to catching my first ski.

I would see if Chad can take you out and teach you the ropes. A day on the water with a quality guide is better than weeks or months of learning on your own. Every lake is different, he knows that lake and can put you on patterns and fish first time out. After that you can go back and work quality spots with confidence. A guide is your best be to learn a lake quickly. The money you spend on a guide will be money saved in time, how many trips will it take you to learn that lake and how much time will you spend on it. Rather than fishing spots that are somewhat productive why not fish the best spots whith the correct baits and patterns. This is what a quality guide will do for you. Just my 2 cents. |
