Location: South Central Wisconsin | You're going to have a hard time getting opinions on this. You'd more than likely be ok on the ocean in that boat. HOWEVER, there are so many different things that can factor in to it, wind being the main one. Only you can decide whether or not you are safe... |

| Yea I know im just so tired of not being able to fish when the rivers up so big you will go down it 50mph in a boat. Only 30 minutes away I could go to this lake which has a good population of fish it and probably catch more fish. |

Location: oswego, il | I have had my little 14ft starcraft with a 9.5 Johnson on petenwell, mad chain and plenty of bigger lakes when I was a kid. 16ft nadens with 20 johnsons on eagle lake in Canada when I was a kid. Watch the wind, pay attention to the weather, you will be ok. |

Location: Green Bay, Titletown, WI | Just make sure you have all of your safety equipment. If the waves pick up, put your life jacket on. I fish Green Bay in a 14' deep V, with a 25 horse. I try not to stray too far from land. it sure is unnerving to get caught 2 miles from land when 3 footers start rolling in. Put your life jacket on, and take your time getting back in. Be smart. |

On a 1200 acre lake, you will be just fine. The waves would never get too big to be any sort of an issue for navigation, especially if there is some variety to shoreline and direction, although fishing in it on the windy side might get a little fun as a 14 foot boat will blow around a bit due to the lack of weight.
In most cases, if the wind is below 20 mph, things should be doable without too much issue.

Location: Alsip, IL | I run a tracker pro guide v14 with a 15 hp merc. The body of water I spend most of my time on is 3700 acres. Sure there are times where boat control is hard and fishing the wind blown spots is near impossible but I've never felt like my life was in danger. Just have to pay attention and hug the shoreline at times to avoid the wind. I wouldn't worry. |

Location: WI | I fished out of a 14ft Starcraft with a 15 on it for most of my life. Fished everything from 100acre vilas gems to shawano lake which is over 5000 acres. You will be fine. Like others said watch the wind and know when to bail.
Said I would never sell my little musky explorer. Now you made me sad. |

| That's what I have a 14ft Starcraft semi v I only have a 6hp but it seems to push it good enough. I took out to our local 90 acre lake and it was very stable. I could walk all around it and not feel uncomfortable . |

Location: Almost Heaven | Get yourself a radio with a weather band and a weather app. for your phone. That way you can keep track of any storm activity and get off the water if there is a storm brewing. We used the phone app. for info last summer and sure were glad we did. We bailed just in time. I saw a couple boats still out and they were lucky they made it off the water. We did manage to warn a couple others. |

Location: North Central PA | I fish out of a 14 Starcraft with a 25 mercury. I have a bass boat but hate it for trolling and also a Bayliner for the family fun. I live where lakes are small although I do visit Seneca and Keuka over in NY for Lakers and I take my Brittany and go fishing. I understand my limitations in that boat but it is a dream for the fishing I like to do. I just started with this Muskie disease and look at these big rigs and maybe someday I might break down but when your 68 years old perspectives change. I lived on a Lake in my childhood and our Canadian Cabin on Bob's Lake in Ontario was a Summer home and I challenged some pretty rough stuff in a 12 foot Starcraft with a 10 hp motor. Just be smart like everyone says and WEAR a life jacket when things get rough. |

So long as you use common sense and apply a "safety first" approach you'll be just fine. I've seen guys in 21 foot Rangers on a 1200 acre lake casting during tornado warnings with lightening flying all over the place. The additional 7 feet of length and superior rough water handling of that boat just isn't enough to protect some folks. |

Location: Elk River, Minnesota | The lake in question is only 1200 acres... You will be able to go where you want, although fishing the windy side will be a little more challenging...doable, though.
When you get on a lake of that size, you'll be thinking..."what was I so worried about?"
It won't be long on that body of water and you'll be looking at bigger waters as well. Heck, for years boats like we see today were nonexistent, and all that was out there for fishing rigs were 14 foot v-hull boats made of wood, and they would be out on bodies of water like leech lake with 10hp motors, and they did just fine. The learned to work the water both into the waves, with the waves, and running troughs....can be a bit of enjoyment in some situations.

No. If it isn't dangerous, go wherever you want. not that I have to even give any more example, but I fish a 3900 acre lake and many of its connected lakes from a 14 foot 8 horse boat for the last 15 years. if its too rough, you will need to trust your instinct of being safe. |
