Hey guys,
I just wanted to share that Cabela's has a steal on rods right now. Their Tourney Trail Rods are on sale for $32.99 from $64.99, and now theyre offering FREE shipping with the code 44BASS. Which kinda sucks considering I bought the 7'6" Heavy 1-3 oz rod last week and had to pay $16 shipping :(. But the rod feel super stout, even though I havent fished it yet. They also have a 7'6" XH 2-6 oz model.

Just thought I'd share.

How would these fare as trolling rods? Am considering maybe picking up some of the "TTCS865-2" 8 foot 6 inch medium heavy... I could get a set of 6 trolling rods for 200 bucks. Reels would need to wait, but hard to pass that up. Would these work well?

For that price! I just ordered one but their selection of longer rods is dwindling.
8'6" MH or 9' H is about all they have over 8'

Honestly man, I have no idea. I have zero experience with anything muskie fishing. Im just now getting gear to start this spring.

The longer 8'6" or 9' would be better for your "out" rods trolling. I would urge MH or H for that.
For this price its a great way to get that extra setup you dont already have...

Just picked up a 7'6 EH. Be careful if you go to their store. They ring up at 64.99 yet. You just have to tell them that they are 32.49.

Received my XH 7'6" in the mail yesterday. It feels much better than I had expected. I will try it with my mantas. If nothing else it will be great for my buddies who borrow my gear.

Got my Cabelas rod today. Tell ya what, I'm pretty darn impressed for thirty bucks. Had an 8' Okuma EVX 2-6oz sitting in the corner so I took some pics side by side to compare. This cabelas rod is nicer then I figured it would be. Short cork but other then that, sweet rod.

Ordered the 7'6" XH on Monday...it arrived Wednesday extremely well packaged. After comparing it to my other rods, it may turn out to be the best $30 I ever spent. It's the same cost as 1 bait!

The only complaints I have about my Cabela's rods is that the hook keeper isn't really sized for musky baits and the cork is a little short.

If you like to hook your lures on the keeper, a simply solution would be to take a split ring and hook around the keeper. Then you could hook your lure in the split ring.

Good call..

What are you guys thinking for reels for these rods.. Pairing mine up with a 6500 C3, I've got a power handle kicking around for it.. I'll have around $70.00 invested in this setup by the time it's ready to go. Sweet

I used to have a couple tourney trail rods from cabelas, they are pretty nice rods, but the reel seats on the ones i had were garbage, the screw down part of the seat would strip and you couldn't tighten the reel up on the rod...This was a few years ago though, they might have improved them since then...
