Which reel would hold up best from throwing Mag Dawgs and Pounders? Which rod would you go with and Big Dawg or Big Nasty? Or something else?

Big Nasty with a 400D or a Tranx. You need a reel that will pick up slack from long pulls from a big rod like that.

Kind of depends on the budget I would say. I mean you could go all out and spend over a grand to pair a Tranx with a Predator. Or you could spend about $600 and get a Big Dawg plus a Saltist 20. You could also go less, just depends on your budget. If one isn't going to use a Tranx HG then I highly recommend the Saltist for a big rubber setup.

Of those 2, go with the big nasty. Way better all around rod. The big dawg isn't necessary with anything but a pounder or similar, and the big nasty will handle pounders just fine but be nice with a lot of other baits too, including mag dawgs and double tens which it will own.
