I want to upgrade to a 24volt trolling motor. I want to get a Minnkota 80lb Terrova.
I currently use a Lowrance fish finder. The Navionics cover alot more of the water I fish. My question is, will the spot lock work between my Lowrance and the Minnkota?
I have no desire to get Lakemaster/Hummingbird due to the lack of coverage where I fish. Any help on options would greatly be appreciated. Not looking to go cheap, just want the best option for the lakes I fish. Thank you!

Spot-lock function is entirely within the iPilot. If networked to a humminbird, you can store more spot lock locations, but the only feature of iPilot link not available would be additional memory (beyond that of yhe ipilot unit) and follow the contour.

It is also possible with humminbird to place the cursor on a map feature, tell the iPilot to go to that location, and then spot lock at that location, which would not be possible with lowrance.

i love minkotas, but that being said yes the Xi5 by motorguide will spotlock any waypoint, and drive to it, just the same as a Ipilot will

ipilot is a stand alone trolling motor that can be adapted to any graph

Ipiolot LINK features will not work without bird/lakemaster

You can still use Navionics maps in a HB, you just don't get the use of "follow the contour" with an I pilot LINK.

Thanks for the help. That really helped to clear things up for me! I was thinking that the trolling motor had to communicate with the graph to perform any of those functions. I am not worried about the "follow the contour" function right now because Lakemaster only covers one lake in the state of Pa. I did not realize the TM has the GPS built into the unit. Thanks again.

What Lowrance sonar do you have? Yep Navionics is universal between Lowrance and Humminbird. BTW how old is your Navionics chip and which one is it Platinum or Premium?
