I am a North Metro member, but now live on the west side, so I am happy to see the addtional west side lakes added. If any members that live on the east side want to venture west I may have an open seat or two for Waconia or Tonka. Just PM me on here as we get closer to the season.

I dropped one night of Ball to finally fish this league... been saying I'm going to do it for 3 years, and finally pulled the trigger...Keystone Light for all at the ramp after fishing hours. I will probably need a partner on the East side a few nights.

I will be making a greater effort to fish the league this year. If there are any folks on the west side looking to wet a line and/ or learn more about MI drop me a PM on here and I'll do my best to schedule with you and hit the water.

If you want to get your name on a list of participants please send me an e-mail at [email protected].
I will also have a sign up list at the expo. I will not share your e-mail and contact info outside of the league group.
This message board would work really good for finding partners for the league nights as well.
We should get together in May sometime to meet others that intend on fishing the league. We could put some faces with names and exchange contact info.
Most nights we meet at the accesses as everone is pulling off and chat for a bit to share what worked and what didn't.

Thank you for the interest in the League

Good Luck

Here is our website. The league has undergone a lot of changes this winter and what Sorgy posted is the latest info. Our club has a lot of great people and I personally fish with 3 or 4 guys regularly who I met through the league/club.

Irish,
Stop by the North Metro Muskies Inc booth at the expo. Some of the guys who fish the league can tell you more about the league and our chapter. The prizes will be awarded to chapter members. You can fish with non members if you want. The league gets interesting after a few fish are caught and guys start working to find partners for the rest of the nights. It can become friendly competition. We usually catch some nice fish and winners usually fish with multiple partners. It is a great way for new members to meet our group.

Thanks for your interest

Stop by the North Metro Chapters booth at George's MN Muskie Expo. We will have the fliers on the league at the booth. If you are interested stop on by and introduce yourself. I will be around the Expo on Friday helping set up and taking a shift or two.

If you want to have your name included on a roster that we can distribute to other members fishing the league send a e-mail to [email protected]
Please include your cell phone number and e-mail adress that can be shared.

Thanks -

Enjoy the expo

Hi All;

Besides all the other great improvements for the North Metro Chapter League Contest, we are working on possibly adding a Championship (WWF Wrestling style) Belt for the Winner to brandish each year!

The intent of our League Nights is to get guys out and make new friendships that last a life time. The bonus partner points as well as the New MI Member Partner points are there to help encourage that.

Come by our free Poolside Lure Demo Meeting featuring Brett Erickson of Thorne Brothers on Tuesday June 20th at the Sheraton Minneapolis West 12201 Ridgedale Dr, Minnetonka, MN 55305 and meet some members and future fishing partners. You do not have to be a member to attend.

How is the river looking for week 1? with all the high water are there still no wake restrictions?

Short Strike,
The no wake was lifted on Sunday I believe. I talked to Josh at Blue Ribbon Bait over lunch yesterday and he stated the river is droping. If we get heavy rains over the weekend it may be a short night on Tuesday. Head out make a casts and make the best of the high water.

Good luck

Steve

p.s. I may head out of the Boom Site on Tuesday Evening.

I'll be fishing south out of Prescott with my dad. Hoping the no wake doesn't get reinstated! High water is not going to be fun to deal with.

We will have 2 boats on Bald Eagle tonight with PIT Tag readers in the boat.

Please call 651-792-5502 or 651 592-5875 if you catch anything tonight. We would like to scan the fish for a pit tag.

One of our goals as a chapter is to support reasearch. We purchased 3 pit tag readers to help with the DNR's Study of Fingerling vs Yearling fish to stock.
Starting 3 years or so ago on White Bear Lake, Bald Eagle and Lake Minnetonka every stocked fish was tagged with a yellow tag and a pit tag- The pit tags are under the skin and not visible at all.
All 3 lakes recieve stockings of yearling and fingerlings at a ration of 1 Yearling to each 3 fingerlings.
The return of tag information and pit tag info will help the DNR track the fish for suvival and growth/recapture rates.

Thank You

Karma,
you are welcome to fish our league but we are awarding prizes only to North Metro members. We are also fishing with the T.C. chapter on White Bear and Bald Eagle in July the losing chapter buy's pizza afterwards.
Post here if you are looking for a partner or have room in your boat for one.
It is still a great way to meet some new muskie fishermen and learn from each other.

Good Luck

Thanks for the invite, ended up getting together with some family for dinner since the rain foiled most of our outdoor plans. I hope you had some action in the rain, sometimes it's not too bad. Hopefully the weather clears up for the weekend, looking to be fairly decent!

Jason,

If none of these cats takes us up on our offers you want to just combine forces tonight, and at least get the partner points? I could throw you a $20.00 for petroleum, intangibles and such, or we could take the crestliner, but muskies seem to shy away from it recently!!!

The league this year is going very well. After 4 nights 37 different people have participated in at least 1 league night. 10 muskies have been caught so far. Bald Eagle produced 2 fish, Indy 2, Rush 1, and Forest 5 fish. Nothing big has hit the net yet-when it does it will change the stats very fast. Pat M has a 42 Mike R and Andy M have caught 40.5 inch fish. Christian M and Andy M have doubled up so far.

Remember that partner points will add up at the end of the year. Try fishing with someone new this year. Try to get your friends out again and get them signed up as members. They will then qualify for the rod and other prizes at the end of the year. Hopefully everyone is having good time with the league. Remember to report back within 48 hours.

Good Luck

Steve

I would like to thank everyone for a great first half of league. We had a very good turnout. Over 40 different people have fished a league night. I hope everyone can make it out for one or all of the remaining nights in August.
This year we are making a big push with our league. Try to sign up some of you fishing friends as members of our chapter and I will honor the new member bonus points.
Remember that all members are in for the prize drawings that we will have at the December meeting. St Croix Legend tournament 8 6 rod and quality lures are up for grabs.
If possible please send me a email with contact info for all members who have fished at [email protected].

Thank you and good luck

Well I know of 1 39" fish caught on Tonka. I fished with Andy and he had a near miss.

Please e-mail me that you fished last night.

Cutoff is 11:59 pm tomorrow night. [email protected]

Both league night and the North Metro monthly meeting are scheduled for tomorrow night. Are one or both events still happening as scheduled?

Take it for what it is - in the fishing reports section above-under Forest Lake someone commented on Rush has a nice bit going on now!
I am out of tonights league- I will be out on the water next week to wrap up the league. I will post something on Friday or Monday with the standings going into the final night.

Good Luck everyone-- put some more fish in the bag

The August league nights were down in attendence from June but we still had some guy's giving it a go. Andy McClure has his foot on the gas and he is not letting up.
only 1 fish has been caught in our league for the month of August. Lets put up a couple of Metro monsters for the final league night.

The league was a huge success again this year. The month of June had very good participation with good numbers of fish caught. July brought on the Mini Challenge between our chapter and the Twin Cities MI chapter. Chris Doland brought bragging rights to the NM Chapter with his 47.5” fish on Bald Eagle Lake. August saw smaller participation and many regulars missed 1 or 2 of the August dates.
Going into the last night new member Andy M partnered up with this guy “Geno”. I was posting updates and always referred to Geno as John G. Andy was in the lead by a small margin. Geno fished with Andy on the last night and managed to catch the league winning fish out of Andy’s boat. It was a 37” fish.
Congrats are due to all who participated. Your participation is what makes the league great.
Many members fished with friends, family, neibors and co-workers. 47 different people participated in our league.
15 muskies were caught with Chris Doland catching the largest of the year at 47.5”
Our prizes will be awarded at the December Meeting.
Steve Sorgenfrei

Sorry about how the points then fish lengths come into play.
