| Hey all,
Planning on getting a new Fishfinder/GPS for the boat this spring. Thinking it's going to be a Lowrance Gen 2 Touch 7 or 9. I have a couple of questions for those of you who have these units already. I've been beating the Lowrance website and forums for info but I still have questions. I hope you guys can provide some input...
In order to use a single G2 touch unit with Ipad, etc, does the unit need a network hub or just the wireless accessory?
Can the G2 touch control Minn Kota motors? What is needed if so? Should I just switch to a different motor or do I need some additional hardware to do it?
Definately getting the structure scan package, any pro's or cons to that?
Anyone have problems with the Touch units in general?
Appreciate any info,

Location: NoDak | I pilot minkota motors will do all there functions with any sonar they are a stand alone unit, ipiolot LINK only works with Humminbirds 7 inch and up, but the pricing on BIRDS are half the price of hds units, and when you have a LAKEMASTER chip, you can adjust the water level for dryer years, shallow water highlight in red, and target depth in green. for me I fish a lake that has huge shallow flats to 7 feet where they plummet off at varying slopes, I run the shallow water highlight to 5 feet and my target depth at 13 +- 3 and that makes the 10-16 depth green, so at a glance I can see the width of "normal" water between red and green and see how wide my green section is. all at a glance.
I have heard the rumors that the Xi5 will do the same things as the ipilot LINK but I have not seen it in person cant deny that I love minnkota, maybe biased but the way I can manipulate the Lake maps is prenominal

Location: Waite Park, MN | With regard to your networking issue with a single unit and then using an iPad: you will need to install the GoFree WIFI module, which will connect to your GEN2 unit via ethernet. Simple, easy, and with a touch it allow you to control the touch unit.
Soon the Xi5 Motorguide will be able to run Lowrance routes. Lowrance has been in the autopilot business for many years, and this should prove to be a very functional interface.
