Change is about the most valuable thing you need to know. Change of speed, direction, depth, color, weather, light, current, and wind... pay attention to these, and the fish will come.

Id hire a guide for at least one day, have one fish with you, you'll learn a lot very quick.

Exactly why you hire a guide, I have a feeling when you catch one you wouldn't think fishing alone is all that boring anymore.

No! Enjoying winternet and what it has had to offer this year. Its the only good thing about this crap winter. This weather is like being married, you never quite know what your waking up to.

I don't think any of us can quit until we really find out which reel is truly the best for double cowgirls...

R Code, I am a newbie too. Once you catch one, 10 hours fishing by yourself won't seem like long enough.

Get out there and fish until your arms fall off....
Two or three hours is hardly enough time to get warmed up much less catch a bunch of fish. Real Muskie fishermen never get bored, they just keep on keeping on until the job is done. So stop yer whinning and get out there and fish man.

Hey honey, is the ice gone yet? No Ace, go back to sleep.

#2 son caught several Muskies on baits other than actual Muskie lures. He would never count them even though there were some in the 49-50 inch range. So two years ago we shared a boat and finally got him a Muskie on a Muskie Bait. A respectable 49" fish. So now he walks around saying he has caught ONE!

Hiring a guide for the lake you fish the most can be a really good way to go when you are starting out or new to an area as it can really help you learn the lake.

Agreed. I hire guides that fish a certain way or area just to learn. Good thin for everyone to do once a year.

Hook, line, and sinker.... he's past the point of no return. Might want to be proative about the bankruptcy paper work haha

In all seriousness, get a guide or two early and then apply those lessons to improve your skills. It's the best investment you can make to catch more muskies.

R Code,

Im not looking for more work but I am willing to help you out on Pewaukee Lake. I have lived on Pewaukee Lake all my life (53 years). I fish it year round. Lots to know about areas and seasonal movements of muskies. Once you understand that and patterns that work during those times your catch ratio of hours fished to fish caught will greatly increase. Locations and presentations = success!!!

Prespawn will be good for this years opener. Mid May will be post spawn and slow for muskies. Memorial Day usually starts the great casting action.
Keep in touch via e-mail or text. I will hook you up with what your looking for. Lots of action!!!
