| Stealth Tackle Makes all mine. Best I have used.
Support the industry and buy from legit companies and guys that pay their taxes....All these (legal)companies that sell product have to pay excise tax that supports the hunting, fishing and wildlife in this country.

| Sorry, not to hijack the thread but I need to ask. I have always used solid wire leaders because I have the most confidence in them. My question is what am I missing? Am I costing myself fish by not using fluorocarbon leaders? My next question is which Stealth leader do I buy.....I cast bucks, tops, cranks and jerks. I am ready to give them a try so I guess I am just looking for some guidance. Thanks in advance! |

| Well solid wire is fine but it kinks and bends. Flouro really shines trolling. It is thick so you can grab it to handle fish boatside. Easier on rolling fish. Less visable in the water so gives you more confidence. For Jerkbaits there is no major advantage other than it won`t kink up. |

Jeff Hanson madisonmuskyguide.com They are also required to pay state sales tax when they are making sales at musky shows, which doesn't happen. I know for a fact that of all the booths that were at the 2 Michigan shows I could count on one hand the number of tackle makers that submitted sales tax to the Michigan Treasury.

| I use stealth leaders exclusively for musky fishing but I really don't know why! Watch this weeks episode of Keyes outdoors and you'll see what I'm talking about. Dave Brown catches a 125/150# Goliath grouper and Mike catches a 125#+ Tarpon both on single crimped 150# flouro. Just like crix, I keep all the materials in my boat when I'm in FL and can throw a rig together in less than a minute. I have never slipped a crimp! But, when I come home to MN, I take all that stuff out of my boat and tie on a 6 or 8 dollar pretied leader!?! I guess confidence is everything. That said...Stealth does make one B.A. leader! |

And this Ben is exactly why I've been making my own crimped leaders for about 10 years , I have a ton of confidence in my own leaders
Just curious Brad did ChadG get you started making your own too? I've never had any issue and have used single crimps for big saltwater fish that pull 10x what a muskie ever will. |

Location: Walker, MN | I have made my own for years and have extreme confidence in them. Like mentioned, I gained confidence by making my own leaders for Grouper, Sharks and other saltwater species. A good swaging tool with a wide bite and the RIGHT double barrel crimp is key. Figuring out how much pressure to put on the crimp is really important. I never really understood the nail knot/crimp combo as I have always felt like the weak point is under the crimp or at the bend no matter what. I have never seen one slip.
Why not use thimbles on trolling leaders?
A lot of people swear by Stealth though.
I can't wait to see that K.O. episode. |

| Most people use springs but thimbles are good for the heavier stuff. |
