I need some help figuring out a place to go on a fishing trip in either late May or June. We normally go to a place in canada but they don't have Muskie it's just northern and walleye, but there are tons so it's fun. I know up north musky are not in season until June so if it was a going to be in May it would need to be south or a place without musky which I am fine with. I am pretty much just looking for a numbers lake whether it's Muskie walleye or pike. Something without recreational boating. Anywhere in a 10 hr radius of Chicago. Also not real big into trolling. Any help will be great. Thank you.

Look into Pelican Lake up by Orr MN. Its a blast to fish, though no muskie but thats not in your timeframe anyway in MN. Its one of the best LM bass lakes in the state with some huge smallmouth too. Tons of pike, with the average size increasing due to the slot. Not a ton of walleye, but the average size is large. Good crappie and bluegill too. Late May/early June is a good time to be there. Lots of shallow bays with pads. The largemouth fishing with plastic frogs is a blast especially when a mid 30" pike smokes you. I highly recommend this lake with its good variety plus a classic up north experience. Its a great lake for kids because of how easily it fishes.

Numbers and huge fish... Detroit river for the opener. It will blow your mind. There's probably not a better option on the planet right now, and its well within ten hours away from you.
