| I struggled as to post this or not, and hope the individual understands, but in the end decided it needed to be done...
Tomorrow a person from this board is scheduled for surgery, and needs our prayers for a successful operation resulting in a GOOD report. The individual has been a major contributor in MANY ways, and is selfless when it comes to the welfare of others. I will not mention his name, but ask that you remember this person tomorrow morning as he goes into the operating room. The person mentioned has really done a lot for me personally, and his optimism during this trying time is unbelievable; thinking of others before himself. Thanks ahead of time... |

Location: Greenfield, WI | Thanks Sponge. It is ok for people to know.
I have been diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer. This in itself is a good thing. Once the Thyroid is removed, supposedly the cancer has no place to grow. Afterwards I will need to take a pill everyday for the rest of my life to control my metabolism.
This is just a speed bump, It ISN'T like being told that you have days or weeks to live. This is insignificant when compared to real diseases. My only concern is if they may find something which they are not expecting.
I plan on harassing, teasing, and picking on all of you for years to come!!!I plan on being on a mountain side in Wyoming next fall killing "God Zilla" elk, they aren't going to stop me!
Prayers are appreciated. God Bless!
...Oh, look at this, my 600th post, I guess that I will remember it!

Location: Eastern Ontario | Steve, sorry to hear of your demise but you are right about the little pill thing. I found out my thyroid gland was dead many years ago. Once we found the right dosage the daily pill does it's thing no big deal. Lets hope your cancer is but gone as of tomorrow. |

| Ok dude...didn't want to mention who(you), but did feel the need to share a concern for a fellow "board" member, and delving into the unknown w/ a "prayer bath" is the only way to go IMO! Anytime they throw the gas to one and start carving is cause for extra help...be sure to let us know how it goes for you. I've experienced a few meself and now have a badminton net holding in me gut, and will most likely experience 2 more knee/hip cuts in the future. Just remember we are here and take the needed time to recover and reflect..... |

| Steve, It was great meeting you at the Milwaukee show! My Dad lived to 89 and took thyroid meds. most of his life. This was light years ago. He died of other complications. My sister-in-law has had her thyroid removed 10 years ago, and, after ajusting dosage is healthier than I've ever seen her before. She's 58, and, hikes the hills of Virginia, sometimes 8-10 miles. This is just a temporary setback. You'll be cheering on those kids of yours, and, pounding the water before the opener! My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. God Bless! |

| I also will add you to my thoughts and prayers Steve. Just try your best to take it easy for a little while to let yourself heal. In a few months you will be out searching for that elusive toothy critter and all this will seem like it was just a little speed bump in your life. Take care! Cindi |

There will be prayers for you from 112 Evangelical Lutherans at my church this Sunday. You are very correct about this type of tumor- so many people who have been through the same with the best of results.
All the best to you and your loved ones,
Don |

You were kind enough to give my son a bait at the Madison Fishing Expo and gave us alot of great info. He had a broken bone in his hand and it was all wrapped up. The freebie really made his day. We will keep you in our toughts and prayers as you make a speedy recovery.
