Steve W, can you give us some insite to your release tool holder. I'm super tired donating expensive bolt cutters to the bottom of my favorite lakes, along w/ pliers and all that good stuff.

So,everyone else, what do ya'll use? I have 2 lakewood mosterns in my boat, so many of my tools go in the little tool holder part on the side...but what do others use? i thinking about tieing my tools to my boat?? maybe?? how about some good organization tips for all the release tools? and how/where to store them.
thanks

Hiya,
I finally found a tool holder I like...

It's made by Dan Vogel of Dunwright Tackle, which is the same co. that is making the white plastic bait boxes with the lift-out lure hangers (the boxes are awesome too by the way, and how I found out about Dunwright...)

His tool holder is a white plastic deal (some sort of space age stuff which is indestructable as far as I can tell) that's sort of an upside down T-shape with flat sides, so the thing sits on the deck of a boat. Inside the stem of the T are ceramic magnets. You just stick the tools to the thing and they stay there.

When I first saw them I didn't think they'd hold tools in rough conditions, but I picked one up with a Knipex, needlenose, hook-out and file stuck to it, shook it like mad, and nothing moved. They really are slick as all get out.

Cheers,
RK

Tom-

I have all my tools in a clear plano box out and ready to go. I have added key ring holders to each tool. The elastic kind that goes around your wrist. I either drilled a hole in the pliers, cutters, jaw spreaders and added the key chain to it. Anytime I work on a fish, put the band around my wrist, no more lost tools for me.

I have attached lanyards to my tools to keep them off the bottom of the lake, I also keep mine in the little holders on the front of my Lakewoods boxes.

On my Esox Deep V tiller there was a "glovebox" type spot next to the guages I used to keep them in there on that boat.

I have also seen guys go to like Menards/Farm Fleet and purchase a canvase style tool pouch like an Electrician or Carpenter would use and fasten these somewhere in their boat.

I bought one of those tool magnets from Dorn Hardware and bolted it to my boat. I fit all my tools and hook sharpeners and scissors on the magnet. Thanks Troy
