Subject: Opinions on 225hp Merc. Black Max

Location: WI - Land of small muskies and big jawbones		I'm looking at purchasing a boat that has a 96 225hp Merc. Black Max motor. Would appreciate any comments good or bad about this motor.

I am running a 200 Black Max from 89 and it has been great for me so far. This is a carb model. Mine gets up and goes, it does suck fuel, but still very dependable. I run the merc power tune through it 4-5 times a year and replace the plugs 1-2 times. I am a maint freak. The only trouble I had was to replace the wiring harness from the key to the motor. Other than that, she runs strong.
