| What boat would you say is the best for Muskie fishing? I have had some that insist on a bass boat and others that say a walleye or multi species boat is the way to go. What are your thoughts.

| I had the walleye boat just bought a bass boat I hope the bass boat guys are right! My biggest concern with the bass boat is being out in big water but it sucked being out in big water with 619 as well so we will see? |

Location: Grand Marais, MN | depends on your climate and your waters and your style. Up here in the north on relatively larger bodies of water and potential for high wind and cold, between the two choices the obvious one would be the walleye type option. Walleye boats are also better suited for trolling. In the more southern locations or smaller waters in general, bass boats are awesome for casting as you got tons of deck space and low to the water (at the sacrifice of some of the musky gear storage space sometimes). So it really depends on your style.
and that is not to say that you cant use one or the other somewhere or anywhere.

Location: Minnesota | Buy what fits your needs. I had a crestliner Cm 1850 aluminum basses boat nice boat went to a skeeter MX1825.I like the skeeter much better. But that is just me. Buy a boat for how you fish not how anybody else fish s |

Location: Hayward, WI | For me, it's the walleye/multispecies boat. More cockpit space for nets, tackleboxes, coolers. Typically plenty of storage for everything else. Able to cut big waves well (though on the 800-15,000 acre lakes I fish a bassboat would probably do ok most days).
Ability to troll. Never trolled from a bass boat but I would guess most of them don't troll very well.
I've fished from a couple bass boats and the deck space and being low to the water IS nice, but for my needs I prefer a multispecies style rig. |

| Bass boat all the way, you don't need cockpit space for tackleboxes and coolers. It all goes below the deck |

Location: Lake Country, Wisconsin | Unless you are fishing smaller lakes only a multi species rig is a much more balanced and better choice... There are a few advantages to a bass boat but they don't outweigh the negatives |

Location: Otsego, MN | Probably go with a 619, 620, or 621. Throw in the removable rear deck and it becomes a bass boat. With storage for everything under the deck extension. |

Location: Minnesota | How big are you looking at the skeeter MX series are nice with rod storage up to 12 footers musky rods are not that long yet but give it a few more years and 9 footers will be short

Your the first person I've ever heard about complaining about how a 619 handles big water..... If you think a bass boat will handle any better your nuts. |

| I should have been a little more clear, in 4 footers they all suck even the ranger i had 2 619s old hull and new , Im not saying the bass boat will be better im just saying its not that pleasent in a "619" a lot of guys say oh 619 or 620 handles 4 footers no problem I find it not to be true,,, I have had my tackle boxes floating several times in 619,,

I went from a bass boat to a 619.......just wait til your at water level with those 4 footers, and every turn at idle into 2 footers gives you a splash to your face..... |

Location: New Lenox, Illinois | I also recommend checking out the RECON 985 as a possible choice. For the money they beat the other boat brands you are looking at hands down. I have 2013 985 DC with a 200 etech H/O and the boat screams and will take on the big water no problem. Also a very dry ride. Storage and layout is incredible. Theses are fishing machines!!!! |

I have Muskie fished out of my buddies 2011 20 plus foot Comanche and let me tell you when the wind blows it's not pleasant at all. Even he admits the two boats don't compare, he has told me.... and I have experienced the difference between the two. That's why ones a bass boat and one is made for rough water. |

| Well, you may offended people that have 619's..... You basically said they performed like crap in rough water which is the farthest thing from the truth.... And I bet 99% of people would agree with me. I'm not just a ranger fan, all deep v glass boats handle rough water better.

| Your right,, I would like to say Im sorry to all of the ranger owners never meant to offend any of you when I said the ride can be a little ruff in huge waves, lol dude ur making a argument of nothing I like ranger boats I was just saying ahhhhhhh well in big waves everything is ruff? I have owned 2 of them I know what they are and how they ride geeeeeeeeez read the my posts

| I think a lot of anglers would agree-----ANY boat is great for musky fishing. My first vessel had a 9.9 Evinrude---no trolling motor and no depthfinder-----affectionately dubbed --" the Green Slime"------she won me the men's division for the Chicagoland Muskie Hunters. I was lucky enough to boat 76 fish over 23 weekends---with six at 50" or better-----thank GOD the fish didn't care about the bells and whistles on my rig----or lack thereof. Good luck to ya-----SN |

| Its nice with all the deck room and being lower to the water level to net and release fish I like that a lot about bass boats and all the storage under the decks but you definitely cant troll well and big waves are no fun. When I plan to fish the big water like Leech Lake I am definitely looking at the forecast because the big lake can be brutal when it gets windy but everywhere else its seems to be ok. |

| the best musky guide in MN, who has spent 20 yrs fishing the second largest lake in MN, which is the windiest, nastiest, roughest lake in MN........currently fishes out of a 21 ft bass boat.......and says he loves it more than any other boat he's fished out of.

| it comes down to what you like and what works for you, I have a buddy with a 16' lund that is 25 years old and to him its a dream boat, uses it for walleye, duck hunting, bass fishing etc.
