| How big does my live well need to be to compete in a PMTT event? Is it standard to live well the fish and bring it to a location? or can you have a judge boat come tally it out of a big kahuna?
I thought a tourney would be a fun thing to do with my dad, but I think our alumacraft only has a 36 inch livewell.

Location: Otsego, MN | I would think you let your fish just sit in the net and wait for a judge. I think they run plenty of judge boats so you don't have to transfer fish. |

| Yea Pedro is right on. There is no requirement for any live well in any PMTT event. You are not aloud to transport a fish in any way. Hope you can make it out it is a great time and the amount I have learned from fishing with some of the best sticks out there is price less |

| "All teams MUST have a livewell of sufficient size to, in the opinion of the PMTT tournament judges or officials, adequately handle the size of the fish being transported. If this requirement is not met, there shall be no BONUS points awarded, even if the release is apparently successful."
This was a direct copy and paste from their web-site. I read this the other day and was curious about it as well. I am considering fishing a these as well and I fish from a bass boat and don't have a very long livewell. ??? |

Location: Minnetonka | That's gotta be old text, as the tournaments are now run with sufficient numbers of judge boats that drive to your location while your fish is in the net (where applicable). When fishing waters with larger minimum length requirements, the PMTT usually runs a CPR tournament so that you are able to quickly measure, photo and release your fish without illegally "possessing" it in your net for an unnecessary amount of time. A live well shouldn't come into play in any of the tournaments this year. |

| There are certain circumstances where you might choose to transport a fish and use a livewell. I think that's where this rule would come into play. But, you certainly don't need a livewell to compete, and it should not come in to play. Naturally, using it would also trigger the state minimum fish length and not the tourament minimum. It would also mean at least the angler who caught the fish was done fishing for the day. In my view a possible use would be if you caught a fish at the end of the day and didn't think you could wait for a judge boat and still get back before penalty points would be levied or a DQ would come in to play. In such a case you could run to the judge that's on the way. NOTICE: I'm not saying this is the way it is or that it's OK...I'm just thinking out loud! |

| Junkman/Marty is right as usual. The rule is old but always left in for an extreme situation. For example, you catch one and your marine radio & cell phone both fell in the lake and your partners cell phone is dead or has no signal. Plus the fact that there is no one around you (like most PMTT tournaments when your fishing, lol) to call a judge for you. I realize it's a rare situation, but none the less could happen. But I would say it has been years, so many I can't remember the last time someone transported one during a tournament.
