Location: Denmark | Probably, and I am very curious, how those new gears, will stand up to the kind of fishing we do. |

Location: N.FIB | so has anyone had problems with there gears on the 300 or 400d because of the micro gears |

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | If U look at the pic below the old style gears has only 2 pinion teeth touching the main gear teeth and on the micro gearing there is 4-5 teeth touching the main gear. So the torque is being speard out over more teeth on the micro gearing so more power and the teeth should not fold over. I want the micro gearing !!!!!!!

NO I don't see that happening with the design. Shimano has another first with this setup. Look at the 2 bearings supporting the pinion gear keeping in line with the main gear.

I think it makes sense. Micro gearing provides a larger surface area on the gear, to displace the forces, and more stability. This could be the smoothest reel ever? |

That's the clarification I was looking for. When you first said you hoped that they didn't fold over I thought you were implying the 400D was less durable. Thank you |
