After watching the latest musky hunter episode I looked into it and the reviews online were not real good. Sounded like lots of upgrades were being done to the app. I can see where it could be handy to have. Maybe the kinks have been worked out already.

I haven't got it yet but my fishing partner has it. Kinda cool and the moon phase stuff is handy. Nothing there that you couldn't figure out yourself. Just more convenient. Should be free in my opinion.

x2 on the peak times that Larry mentioned.
Other cool features as well and I'm sure the app will only continue to be updated as ongoing feedback is given.
Another thing I enjoy and found myself referencing often is the satellite map views.
Never utilized them before the app and I find them invaluable for understanding why a fish might be located where I encountered it, how the weeds are growing in a particular area in relation to the structure they're growing on, etc.
Weekly updated hi-def satellite views would be on the wish list for me.

Apparently the only differences are the $10 one has trolling information for line out and depths of certain baits along with the fishing activity is up to a week in advance while the $3 has no trolling info and activity is limited to 24 hours in advance. I was curious to know other peoples reviews on it before I got it too...

The reviews weren't that good.... I think I'll wait until they work the bugs out, and it can "really help" put more fish in the net.

I have the app and I can't find any lure trolling depth info on mine. I have never seen an update offered for it. Mine is installed on a 4S iPhone.

The info supplied by the app is very generic and not really of much value. You would think that for some of the more popular muskie lakes, more specifically tailored info would be provided.

Only really usable feature for me is the moon info.

Agreed 100%. I went looking for the mentioned trolling info, couldn't find it either. And as mentioned everything is very generic. Honestly I wish I would have just saved the $10.

All of your purchased Android apps are tied to your playstore account. You don't ever have to buy them again. When you get a new phone you can install them for free yourself.

Agree with others that this is not worth the $10. Its just a "gadget" application to play with, but it is not a tool I use when preparing for fishing, or on the water.

I don't actually have the app. I called Musky Hunter to know the difference between the lite and pro version. She said that was the difference. Don't know why they would tell me that if it's not even on there...sounds like I'm better off not getting it either way.

I was able to transfer my Navionics app to my new droid phone and my GPS tablet without having to buy them again.

I'll have to look into this Musky Hunter app more. There are some decent free apps out there for peak times and solunar charts/data. Combine that with the Navionics for lake maps and other fun things and I'm pretty much set.

Lots of really great questions regarding the app. The app was first launched in May of 2013 and there were some issues with the performance. We were able to work the bugs out and the app has been stable since September. The original version has been reduced in price to $2.99 and the PRO version is now $9.99. The PRO version includes monthly moon calendars, a weekly view of activity prediction, a revised activity algorithm now updated on 15 minute intervals, and a trolling app. The PRO upgrade is currently awaiting approval from Apple. As soon as it's released, any PRO purchases will automatically upgrade on your phone. If you have any specific requests for app improvements you can log them at www.MuskyHunterMobile.com

From the Google App Store you can download it to all your devices. I just purchased the Pro version and downloaded it to my phone and tablet. If you change phones, your Google Play account should have your new device listed and you can download it to it. I've never had to pay twice for any app when upgrading my phone or adding another Android devise.

Time2Fish has a free app, as well as one for $2.99. It requires GPS be enabled, but gives you moon phase, sun and moon rise and set, moon over and under and major/minor times. It was consistent with another data source for where I fish.

I have the free one and it's great (also have the Time2Hunt). Was hoping the Musky Hunter app would have a similar feature like Time2Fish. Hopefully they improve it. If not, stay with the free ones and Navionics.

There are still some questions coming in regarding the new PRO version upgrade. If you paid $9.99 you will automatically get upgraded to the PRO version. It doesn't matter if you purchased online a week ago or last year. Everyone will upgrade. If you purchased the LITE version ($2.99) you will have an option to upgrade.

My IPhone updated the App and I now have all the trolling and future moon information. This is a handy little App that conveniently puts a lot of information in one place. You could probably have several other apps for free or slightly less $$$ but the convenience of having it on one App in one location is really nice in my opinion.
I just hope they add more lures to the trolling section...

I've got the app, but haven't used it much yet. I do have another app that I've used a bunch called My Fishing Advisor Pro, that I like a lot. I believe it was only $3.99 and it has a monthly calender feature with peak days, major and minor times and you can pick different species and get the same info for them.....well worth the money IMO.

The lures in the trolling section appear to work two ways... They have a few preprogrammed lures or you can pick a lure by type (topwater, spinner, bucktain, crank bait, etc. ).
The lures they have preprogrammed are some depth raiders, slammers, big games. I would expect them to add more lures in the future but for now you can always name your own lure, pick its style, manufacturer, set its max depth, and set its own lure depth curve by filling out how much line it takes to be various depths.

The app itself states "New Lures coming soon. Check back frequently."

I think this App is getting better and better the more I play with it!

We stopped by the Musky Hunter booth at the Milwaukee Expo. A gentleman named Jeff was there who took 15 minutes or so to run us through a tutorial. What an awesome app!!! Just the moon phase/weather center/ feeding window predictor is worth it in itself. The trolling feature and catch log were pretty cool too. After now understanding the full functionality of the app I would say its worth every penny of that 9.99 (I definitely recommend the PRO version).

@ Jeff - thank you for taking the time to answer all our questions. You earned two new app subscribers!

(For Android subscribers, Jeff mentioned the 'Pro' version will be available sometime this week)

If you already have it on your iPhone, it should transfer to your iPad as long as both devices use the same apple username/login. If that still doesn't work, you can try logging out of your ID on your iPad and relogging back into to try to "refresh" the app.

Anyone know if Pro Android version has been updated yet to include trolling info? Also what is the size my phone is getting full? Can it be moved and run from the SD card?
Thanks Frank

According to Jeff from Musky Hunter (at the Milwaukee Musky Expo) the Pro version for androids was set to go live last week.

Sorry, I can't help ya with the SD card question.

sorry to bring this back to the top but I have the pro version on an iphone and I don't get any messages about any of "my lakes". I have notifications on for the app and notifications on for each of my lakes. The last messages I received were back in january?? Anyone else with this app still getting notifications??

Thanks,

Adubs

Love the app. I have had issues with the messages section though, not sending a "hot activity level" until after the fact. Everything else works as described, and I would vouch for the Activity app being on the money. Good app, just needs a few kinks ironed out yet. It would be nice to be able to cache the maps for those lakes where I have no internet connectivity.....
