Wire benders

I have seen the Cabelas model and the Boggs models. I want to make leaders and some wire to put thru wood baits. What other options are out there? One gent just uses some pliers for his homemade leaders. Some leader material I'm looking at is solid 135 lb test. What equipment would I need to twist this stuff? Thanks.

Rollie and Helen's sells a few tools for this purpose.

I have bought a small 'Dubros' (sp) from Cabelas last trip that was a waste of money. Never again.

I bought a leader kit from R&H that came with a nifty little do-hicky - it's perfect for making solid wire leaders. Don't recall the name off hand. The little tool looks like a dredle (one of those little spinning tops used by Jewish folks at Chistmas).

Fin,
135# is OK for leaders but I wouldn't recommend it for through-wire construction.

Many of todays wire formers are versitile and can bend different size wires. You may have to buy extra dies though.I just checked out a Lure-Craft catalog and they have a reasonable priced Tacklemaker wire former at 50 bucks. And for an extra 10 you can get an .041-.051 head for the heavy stuff. I think this one will work for me.......................R1

The bogg's is a nice unit. Too bad it has doubled in price in the last two years. I have another one that cost me 100 bucks, forgot the name but I think I bought it from jann's netcraft for my dad. Looks like it does alot more.
