| Numerous aquatic birds, a few turtles, a giant carp, lots of lures, jigs and fishing line, and what I thought might have been a log at first. It was HEAVY. As I got it closer to the boat and could finally see it, I started thinking "rope? Some sort of tow cable? What the heck IS that??" It wasn't until I had finally manhandled it to within reach when we realized what it was. I never really thought about how they get power out to the island homes from the mainland until that day.

| I saw a guy I know catch a loon in the arse. It was kinda sad, kinda funny. Completely unintentional. Then all these other loons showed up and were gathering around his boat. He had to reel it in, and cut the hooks. I think he was using a medussa, so you wouldn't wanna leave that thing hanging from a loons arse. |

| My partner hooked a loon that hit a jerk bait boatside during the WMT Championship---netted it, wrestled the bait out of its wing and let it go. Bird was fine, but anyone who's had a loon chase knows your first reaction is that it's a 50 lb musky. Also brought up an anchor after a 10 minute fight that ended up being a gift at Xmas. |

I think a good rule of thumb is to never leave anything hanging in any form of arse. Dingleberries aren't particularly enjoyable, imagine a fish hook! |

| While trolling at an Illinois lake we came up on a hump and I knew my deep rod was going to get into the bottom. About that time the drag started singing telling me I was hung. Lugged it in and it was a broken rod with a calcutta on it. Its line was hung on something which I never did get up. Too bad it was a left handed reel. |

As it hit, another unseen eagle appeared and made a play at it. I jerked hard, diving the lure while screaming at the thing. |

My friend Todd and I were out trolling one day and his rod goes. He's fighting it..."can't tell what this is"...when it gives him a big power run. This is a big fish. Then it starts coming in easy."Comin' at the boat!" Then it really bull dogs him 20 feet from the boat. "It's a DANDY!...wait...it's not a fish." It was one of those old bi-fold lawn chairs that kept opening and shutting on the way in.

Try moving around the boat hauling two of those to the garbage! Also a divers face mask, fairly good one too, it was suspended in weeds and got hooked in the strap. Someone mentioned catching Buffalo Carp earlier. When the Buff's are banging Muskie baits I am all about it! had one snap a XH muskie rod two years ago!
But the weirdest thing ever caught while Muskie fishing in my boat was a lawn tractor. Looks like it was parked on the hill and must have rolled in. Was completely submerged in about 5 foot of water. Took a reef hawg to the steering wheel. |

Location: central Wisconsin | Thought I snagged a body one time on the Minocqua chain. Fishing in about 25 feet of water with a Depth Raider and hooked something solid. I knew it wasn't a fish but kept horsing it straight up to the boat. When it got within 8 feet or so of the surface I could see what looked like a huge mass of blonde curly hair. Well I kept going and what happened was I snagged a nylon anchor rope that was attached to an anchor snagged up on something. The rope was all frayed and expanded and it looked just like a head of hair coming up from the bottom of the lake. |

He came blasting out of Metro Beach, and ran between the boat and a fixed planer board. Going under the planer board line, but somehow DIDN'T clothes line himself. Guessing the "speed tuck position" he was sitting in, saved him. We were trolling West at 4kts and he was going East at about 40kts.
BUT......he was NOT lucky enough to miss the inside board line. Inside board rod 700 Tekota, took off screaming like never heard before. A 6" Bright Green Scale jointed Wiley King Jr firmly hooked in his shoulder, it ripped him right off the PWC!!!
He ended up going to the ER, to get 3 trebles removed. Sheriff wouldn't let us Knipex the hooks off the lure, and we never got the lure back, either.

| After a day of throwing double tens I decided to change up and throw a topraider for a bit. A brand new topraider at that... Not thinking about the fact that topraiders fly just a bit further with just a bit less effort, I threw a cast. As many of you know, casting becomes sort of mindless after 8 hours or so, and you don't often watch where your cast is going because you already know where it's going to land. To my knowledge, that topraider still has yet to see water, and likely still sits where I left it when I cut the line, 40 feet up embedded in a tree. It was the largest thing I've ever caught by far!
Reminds me of a day when a buddy and I were bored after not seeing a fish all day and decided to see who could cast the farthest. (By far, the best lure I've found for that is a baby Wabull. It's like throwing a rock.) After about ten minutes of me beating him on every cast we decided to make it fair by using the same lure. His first cast with the baby Wabull was impressive to say the least. *WHOOSH!!* I actually lost sight of the lure as it flew through the air. I can't tell you how far it went. Halfway across the lake, I'd reckon. I looked at him, put my rod down, and said "#*^@. You win. You just put that thing into ORBIT! How the hell did you DO that?!?"
He looked back at me with this dumb look on his face and said "I forgot to fasten the snap, man!" Lots of laughs after that one.

| One nite on Vermilion my buddy had a bat hit his line about 6' from rod. When we realized what it was he started flailing around like he was trying to kill a bee with a broomstick. My rod, I'm hiding behind pedestal seat. After about 30 seconds when he was sure it was dead he stopped. We both busted up laughing. It was so tangled, had to cut line. Next morning at cafe in Tower eating breakfast look out window and there's a bat hanging in windowsill. We look at each other and start laughing.
Caught a monster snapping turtle while flathead fishing. It didn't come into the boat.

Rod holder was a flush mount Lee's rocket launcher, in the gunnel. (fishing a larger boat) Drag was set right, so it did most the work.
For trolling...saltys for boat rods, and rocket lauchers for boards (clamp on tube or flush gunnel). I have broken the plastic holders on fish, so we don't use anything made from plastic.

Inside board rod took off screaming like never heard before.
This is the best one...WOW..
The revenge we have ALL wanted against jet skiers lol!!! |

| It's a muskie but a funky one. We assume this was injured during stocking efforts. |

Location: Planet Meltdown | Haven't caught too many odd things while Muskie fishing...... But did catch my PB 28" Walleye on a 5" Baker Shad bait. Also caught two of my biggest Smallies (20" and 21") on back to back casts on opposite sides of a rock pile on Nippising while Muskie fishing.
The craziest thing I ever hooked was while surf fishing for Stripers on Montauk's North End. It was the fall run and the shoreline was packed. Everyone was into fish one cast after another. We were casting surface poppers into the blitz..... I launched a cast and right before my bait hit the water a Northern Gannet flew right into my line about half way out and did about three somersault's wrapping it's wing up in my braid. I thought to myself oh just GREAT!! Then it tried to fly away. So here I am fighting this big bird trying my best not to harm it and I got anglers on both sides casting and fighting fish and this bird is going ape S#%^! I finally managed to get the bird under control and the guy next to me helped me capture it. We threw a towel over its head and went to work untangling it. Thank god we both had surf gloves on. That bird obviously was not happy but it flew away unharmed. Some of the comments I heard echoing down the shore were hilarious. I was back to fishing and thankfully caught no more birds that day.

| Fishing line with fish and rig attached (Pike), Beer cans, bait bucket, mushroom anchor, and thought I had my first musky and it turned out to be a life jacket bag. That last one sucked...
Had an owl follow a pacemaker at night once. I yelled at it and it flew away.
Perhaps the funniest was Sturgeon Fishing with my H Predator. Caught a Burbot. My friend Mojo insists I am the only person alive to stick an Eelpout with Predator. Not sure if it is true or not, but still funny.

| An anchor and a giant bra. Anchor was normal size. The bra was disturbing. |

| My brother and I were grinding spinnerbaits one time in about 20ft of water. He reared back and set the hook hard on what for a short period of time we thought was the biggest muskie in the lake. What it was in actuality was a 20lb anchor that someone thought was a good idea to put on a bungy rope. As you can imagine the pulling back and forth of the bungy coupled with the weight of the anchor was pretty realistic for a good 20 seconds. We had a pretty good laugh, and a nice anchor when all was said and done. |

| My buddy caught me. LUCKY the hooks didnt dig, but the leader and bait wrapped around my neck with the bait at my throat with the hooks barely sticking. I was on the other end of a 12ft boat. Still not sure exactly how he managed that. lol |

| Caught a long very skinny muskie w/ a rusted cowbell on the side of its face. I never hooked the fish, my lure got tangled with the cowbell that stuck on the side of its face.

Which is why you shall be known as the Burbot King.... Sturgeon on the left/ Burbot on the right...

| A muskie that must have broke it's back being removed from the hatchery and or during stocking. I've seen some hunch back muskies before but this was an extreme. It went into a death spiral almost immediately after hooking it so the fight was a little weak. The amazing thing is this fish has be able for successfully forage for bait and grow. It was a healthy fish and swam off/downward quickly.

| Saw thousands of these in the water at Lake Kinkaid. Did not pay much attention to them until my lure dragged one in. They are all over the trees in this one bay. Jelly like and very heavy! I was afraid to touch it. It fell off my lure when I tried to take it off the hook with a wet towel. Broke into a bunch of pieces. I had to Google it when I got home. Never knew they even existed!!!

| One night while trolling, at about 2:00 am, the line goes off. Because we had nothing the whole trip, we get excited, only to find out, we're reeling in an elastic band from some fat dude's undies...! Gross! We start laughing ... Crazy!
Got to love those night trolling trips! |
