Hanging Baits?

I was wondering. What is the reason people hang their baits on the wall?
-Something to do in the winter?
-Better for baits than keeping them locked up? ie rust.
-This is how you store baits and only take the ones you plan on using when you go on a trip?
Just wondering.

I hang my baits up to help them dry (rusty hooks). That is the only reason for me.

I too like looking at them. This also gives me a better inventory of what I have, want, or need. Then I organize them for the upcoming season or trip, just seems easier for me. No I love looking at them, most are works of art.

how I store them, the ones that are not in the boat, they are not on the wall but hung from the ceiling above the boat

I'll say ditto to all of the above but most of all to remember what you have. Like everyone else, I have a lot of scuccess with 3 or 4 baits but own about 150. I dont take them all with me so I need to survey the herd before heading out and bring along something new to try when the old faithfuls aren't so faithful

I used to hang them up, now whatever's not on the wall stays jammed in a bunch of Plano boxes shoved in storage in the boat.

If I could I would hang everything I have except plastics. One of the worst things I know is when you figure out which bait you need and then have no idea where it is at! Which box? which boat? which place? Drive ya nuts! In fact I have gone to a layer deep on good baits. I can always find one if I own six of them!!
