| What is your favorite jerkbait and glide bait? Under what conditions do you use these over other types of baits? Any favorite color? |

Location: Lake "y" cause lake"x" got over fished | I am a huge fan of Muskie Treats (bigwoodmuskylures.com) And I had a custom built that is my favorite. Warlocks are one of my other go to's and you can't really go wrong with phantom.
Kodiak on this forum makes some pretty awesome gliders as well, they have killer action.
Suicks is my fav dive and rise bait. Perch has been one of my better colors.

Location: Planet Meltdown | I personally like Reef Hawgs, Suicks, and Leo's. Other than having to tune them every so often. Sledges are an awesome bait but I only like throwing the weighted ones and I even add another 1/2 to 1oz weight to them. Makes them more neutrally buoyant and keeps them in the strike zone longer. I haven't had much luck with Phantoms or Hellhounds and I spend a lot of time throwing them two seasons ago. Lots of follows and missed fish.... Always seemed like the fish zigged while I zagged. |

| What do these baits do that a bucktail can't do in the same situation? I ask because I can't seem to find a jerkbait or glidebait that catches my fancy. |

I almost quit using bucktails because jerkbaits IMO catch more fish. The jerking action triggers reaction strikes, I have many less follows using jerks compaired to bucktails. With jerks the strikes seem to come some distance from the boat giving room to play the fish. Thats why in a same situation I go jerkbait over bucktail. |

There is really no comparing an inline bucktail to a gliders. They are two totally different tools each with their own uses. |

? Less effort to chase a jerkbait? Its a different look if everyone else is on the lake if throwing bucktails.
I also don't usually get follows on jerkbaits. They just T-bone them halfway back to the boat.
Im a big fan of dive and rise, not really into gliders.

Everything!!!
They can slow it down... more erratic action... Different profile... using different triggers.... they can pause without fouling (fish love to hit on the pause)... cover "more" water depending on what your shooting for.... get deeper then most bucktails can... Get around cover... over it... under it... through it... deeper... up... down... left... right...
Bucktails are notoriously a fast, straight retrieve. obviously you can go slow. but options are limited
Keep in mind, just because bucktails work doesn't mean that's all the fish want to eat. A straight retrieve works sometimes, but you could throw a tail all day and never even see a fish, then put on a glider and catch 3... NEVER< EVER< EVER discount any bait from the arsenal because you don't like it. When it comes down to it, it doesn't matter what you like or don't like. It matters what the fish want in that minute and if you limit yourself to only using one or two types of baits because the others don't tickle your fancy, you will catch less fish then those willing to try new things, or new techniques while on the water.
keep an open mind to new baits and techniques, you will become a far better angler then one that sticks to what 'they' like. Again, its all about the fish and the conditions. the rest goes straight out the window. just my .02 cents |

| Glide bait - Muskie Treats, Mag Treats and Reef Hawgs. Jerkbait - Suick. Conditions - when blades and rubber aren't producing. The "hang" or "pause" is key with these baits along with the erratic action, let the fish tell you when they want hang or pause and erratic. Color - whichever color is getting chewed, usually bright. |

| squirrelly hell hounds or phantom soft tails. I like having the tail when I go into my eight with a glider. Maybe it makes a difference to the fish, maybe it doesnt, it looks better to me |
