Ive been offered what seems to be a really good deal on an older Javelin boat that has been really taken care of. Was curious if any of you have ever owned one or knew someone who did and could offer up some opinions. Thanks!

There's a guy in my walleye club that has an early 2000's Javelin bass boat that has held up well for him. No issues with the fiber glass. I've seen a couple of the Javelin Deep V walleye boats on the Detroit river & LSC but never talked to the guys. The deep v looks to be a pretty nice boat.

I lived outside of Atlanta GA 1990 to 2000 and that was a popular bass rig down south. I would check with some of the southern bass bogs/web sites...

-------- Javelin boats were sold by OMC Evinrude motors. and was one of 3 boat lines sold by Evinrude motors. I bought a 1998 Hydra-Sports 171 series boat with a 120 hp Johnson on it new in 1999. The Johnson motor is long gone but I still have the Hydra-Sport. It now has a DF 140 hp. SUZUKI on it and I fish with it Year round here on the Cave. Javelin boats were made in the same plant as the Hydra-Sport and was one of that line made in Merfreesboro TN. The company moved to Florida in 1999 and now makes only Salt Water Boats as far as I know. AS long as the boat that you are looking at is in good shape you shoud be OK to go. Good luck and good fishing to you Marv.

We've bought and still have a Jav 19' 198 dusl console. It was my understanding that Jav was purchased by Stratos and then closed the freshwater line down. As far as the hull & boat go it's been a rock. We do not keep it in the water and trailer it almost nightly. That seems to help allot. Good boat, fairly priced.

I would add ours was original with a FICHT Johnson Outboard. I would not take that it was a deal killer. The original owner then put a Merc EFI 175 on it. I bought it shortly after that.

The FICHT Evinrude Johnson was a job killer I should know I worked there for 32 years till they closed down in 2000. Evinrude could not please the EPA and our 4 stroke was a Suzuki with the Evinrude name on it. If I ever replace my motor Illl be looking for a new E-Tec 150 for my 16 year old Hidra-Sport.

As with any old boat, check transom for cracks. Many Javelins/other bass boast have spider cracks, usually not to worry about, but make sure transom is sound and doesn't flex.

Javelins are typically fast as a brand. Not the fastest but pretty fast hulls. I nearly bought Renegade 19 a few years ago with a 175 fast strike.

I ran a 93 Javelin for awhile. One of the best boats I've ever used and a better layout IMO, than my new Stratos that I replaced it with. Javelins are solid boats.
